XILS StiX - New drum machine coming?

I have done some testing with StiX and while it features a full featured VA synth engine with multiple Oscs, an analog modeled multmode filter (wit hteh latest generatiomn of Xils Labs zero delay feedback technology), 3 envelopes and 2 LFOs at the 3rd Osc it could also load samples (WAV files) and also import them. FM between Oscs 1 and 2 is possible too.
That way it is possible to create analog/digital hybrid sounds and/or comining simple FM with samples and both combined with an analog modeled filter.
The mod matrix besides frequency modulation of Osc 1 also allows filter FM and audio rate modulation of the waveforms for Osc 1 and 2. Like in the Xils Lab PolyKB II synth the waveform selection for Osc 1 and 2 is continuous/morphable.Waveform modulation by the LFOs is possible too.
Oscillators could be also switched to a Sine mode (Sine not included with the wave selection knob).
Most of those features were already mentioned in the OP of the other ("official") StiX thread:

I'd buy it immediately if there was a promise to include midi out in a later revision, and I'd wouldn't hesitate to buy it at full price if there was also a promise to do MIDI drag & drop in a daw. Love the beta as it is now, I'm just greedy.Lotuzia wrote:No Theo. Like I said maybe a midi out capability could be added. If there's enough demands for that. Couple of requests. I'm sure they're not on the table, but thought I'd try.
-Enable the ability to instantly switch sequences. Perhaps also the ability for the sequencer to start playing immediately when pressing play on the transport. I notice in Logic that when I hit play there's a significant delay before the sequencer in Stix catches up. I'd greatly love to change this behavior because it's kind of annoying.
-Allow click and drag to "paint" sequence steps instead of having to click on each individual step.
These are a couple of things I use quite a bit in Tremor and would love to have that kind of behavior in Stix.

has anyone tried the update? I did very briefly and thought the sound of the oscillators was very good - but i thought htere might be more specialised modules for creating different drum types (e.g clap/cym etc etc)
Interested to know what others think.

I have and I think it's great !:-)
There are so many amazing presets / patches so it'll take me a while before even dealing with the oscilators.
As for dedicated or specialized modules. Well, if you want a different clap or snare you would just pick any of the existing and tweak them as you would with any sound in any synth. After all there are no dedicated or specialized bass, or string or woodwind modules in an analog synth. Right ?

I know it's a bit difficult to understand but in StiX EVERY drumpad (drum sound) can be considered as a Drum Model, or a drum module.DavidCarlyon wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 2:56 pm has anyone tried the update? When on other drum machines you'll find from a coupleto a dozen parameters for most specialised drum modules, in StiX you have more than 135 parameters to taylor EACH sound.
Claps for example : You can switch any of the three envelopes to R-Clap mode. And get a Clap sound easily, but you can still further taylor it with plethora of options, including custom macors parameters for each drum sounhd. So you go to the Preset Manager window, search for Snare/Claps, and add 'analog' criteria if you dont want to see the clap samples, or choose FM claps for more raunchy sounds, and there you go, you can at once try the different claps of the facotry library. There are other claps available btw, claps samples, Cross Synthesis (see this as a bit similar to Yamaha RCM synthesis) Analog + sample etc. And then you can easily taylor the sound you've found with the EZ page macros (Stretch etc), the custom macros attached to these presets. Or go for a synthesis orgasm in the Advanced synthesis page (130 parameters)
Here's a tutorial about the r-claps envelopes to illustrate all the above :
In this tutorial you can see that with StiX you can do 'regular claps', but also a lot of other intersting, and never heard drum sounds and Fx.
In a soon to be released tutorial, I show how to make tr-xox HH sounds, and Simmonesque Toms/Kicks. Here again starting with a simple base preset, I show how to achieve quickly a large variety of sounds in this style.

Midi Out was added in 2016.
And ..... We even added Drag'n'Drop pattern to daw in the recent v1.5 release

Ah i didn't see the clap envelopes. that is awesome! Will have a go on that now.
It was never about the sound - it sounds awesome. I was just wondering if i would be able to make all of the different sounds i need.
Will have another session tonight.

Really like the sound of this, though i missed the sale in the end.
Next time i will be poised.
One thing i was wondering though - do you think it would ever be a possibility that this could be released as a 'module' version?
That would be awesome for people who still like to use the DAW to sequence, but prefer using synthesis to samples.
That would be instant buy for me.

Each of the modules can be triggered from your keyboard, you don't have to use the sequencer if you don't wish.DavidCarlyon wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2019 9:10 pm Really like the sound of this, though i missed the sale in the end.

Yeah i get that (thats how i demo'd it)
But it would be amazing to have separate modules on separate tracks in the DAW. Other drum plugs have done this (UVI Drum designer, or the sample based one from wave alchemy)
It just means you can use exactly what you want, where you want.

No plan for that atm. I sometimes use several midi tracks in my main daw (Cubase) to control StiX. Reason for this is that the midi Cc# automation is channellised -so you can automate up to a thousands parameters in StiX in real time-, so it's more clear -for me- when automation is splitted on several -midi- tracks.DavidCarlyon wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2019 2:11 pmshonky wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2019 10:34 pmEach of the modules can be triggered from your keyboard, you don't have to use the sequencer if you don't wish.DavidCarlyon wrote: Thu Mar 21, 2019 9:10 pm Really like the sound of this, though i missed the sale in the end.

But you could as well use one track for the BD, one for the Snare etc without even using automation, all controlling the Same StiX unit. Or have sereral StiX instances. I have another -hopefully good and interesting- design for a single drum module. But it's something very different than a single StiX channel.
