maybe you should do some clear up here viewtopic.php?p=7344386
...it was at least my fault that I replaced my storage disk without deactivating the product.
Can Avenger be deactivated before replacing a disk? How is that done?
From the VMan on the plugin that can be done.
Thank you. So does "Log Out" deactivate the product?

So, how many activations do you get?
Usually, when you change a computer (or disk etc) once in a while, it's not a big deal.
And if you run out of activations, or have a problem - you can usually just email the dev. I've gotten quick replies from the guys at Vengeance, so hopefully it's not a big problem ;)

From what I can tell, that just logs you out of the online account. Avenger still remains activated.

This...
Avenger is activated by a keyfile on your harddrive...
The login is only to be able to download something (updates/expansions/ new keyfile etc...)

manuel

I'd like some workflow videos

eg here's three great sounds and here's how to make them.

I enjoy sound design in avenger, but 50% of the time i get it wrong.

some guidance on patch building would help.

if i've missed a tutorial somewhere, pls steer me

the tutorials i've seen are more like function operations, ie, menu descriptions.

These are good, but i'd like some specific avenger design help rather than the generic synth patch making, as found in groove 3 and similar.

How can one get wrong a sound that doesn’t existed before designing it?

Or you’re trying to replicate existing timbres? In this case if Manuel makes 3 sound design tutorials you will just know how to make those three sounds.

Sound design is about ear training. A tutorial can’t train your ears to hear the finer details. Making thousands of presets does. And is hardly synth-dependent unless you have a really weird gui (which is not the case for Avenger, signals flow linear and the interface is very clear/n).

You hear a sound and you start identifying the components: general envelope, how the attack sounds, how’s the tail, is there any filter, could be layered with a real instrument, could be any easy to recognize synthesis mode (detuned oscillators, sync, fm, additive etc), and the list goes on. And then you use this information to create your sound.

And sometimes you still can’t make that sound in that song 100% replica due to further processing on the track bus.

And many times you can’t predict how a certain knob will affect a complex waveshape until you experiment - which is a huge component in sound design.

These being said, you need exactly what Manuel presents: “how ((insert name here)) knob affects the sound of a saw” because if you know the basics and synth architecture, then you can think for yourself.

Lastly, factory presets are gold. Deconstruct the sh!t out of them.

I agree - just keep playing with different settings, and when it sounds good - save it ;)

Yes, thanks for lectures.

I do keep trying.

But still don't get the results I imagine in my head, or that will fit my mix.

I have a lot of successes, but I also admit to the failures.

Sorry I'm not a genius.

Workflow tutorials would help, I'm sure.

No they don’t. Is like watching tutorials with people driving a car and expect to get better at it just by watching. Or watching a tutorial on playing the guitar and expect to get better after. The hours spent in watching tutorials are beter spent on actually driving/playing guitar.

I’ve been in your position and there’s no other way of getting better at making sound except for actualy making sounds. And is not about beig a genius, is simply we get better with practice.

Plus, there are more than one way to achieve the same sound in Avenger (by using the chorder vs a new osc, c-lfo vs envelope, envelope routing, fx routing vs master bus etc).

Failure is excluding somethig you tried. Next time you’ll know and avoid it. In time these failures add up and you also stumble on a lot of new shit that even Manuel doesn’t know.

I was just saying that you learn a lot just by screwing around and trying things - waiting for "happy accidents". I certainly learn a lot that way ;)
