^^^ why don't you disable the startup time plugin scanning (option/plugins), S1 gonna start instantly ...

even turning off the scan it still takes a while, that only saves a few seconds, so many things to load and turn on

It usually takes time when new plugs installed, but later it starts within seconds. More seconds than Reaper and Bitwig, but similar to Live and sure less than Cubase.
S1 takes just few seconds in my case, about 7~9 seconds. I have few plugs though, about 50, but several midi controllers, exactly 5.

I'm a complete DAW nerd, and I own literally all of them... even the weird old ones.
If I had my way I'd be using SAW and SVP still, but in 2019 I do most of my work in a combination of Reaper/Cubase/DP.
I love using Waveform as well.
Still seems that for basic audio/midi workflows, nothing has really caught up to SAW and SVP though

I don't hate Reaper. It does some things very well, and has a few features that I would love to see in other DAWs.
But to me it is just overall too cumbersome to use on a regular basis. The opposite of intuitive to be precise.

Windows 10 and too many plugins

I had some unforeseen medical issues, but pleasantly surprised to see the activity and insight on this thread. There's no shortage of "Which Best DAW is Best," and you can see why . . . there's really no consensus. Hopefully reading other eMusician's comments and experience helps others zero-in on what DAW is best for them.

S1+MUX seems usable (although still learning S1, waiting for Bitwig 3beta u know ... ) , workflow very close to the clip based Bitwig just without the launcher-clips(first the scenes in the scratch-pad then dropping them into the arranger as Shared Events) , I would put the simple automation things into the arranger everything else (complex modulation into) Bitwig has very similiar workflow just with its own unified modulator system and Bitwig doesn't know ghosting/shared clips
so I can imagine some workflow like this (still learning S1...),
S1 has tons of minor workflow problem but that would be an other topic ...

Logic Pro X because its a very powerful DAW. It was easy to learn and has great stock plugins/instruments to get you started.
Ableton Live for the creative workflow in Session View, I can get ideas down and fleshed out quickly. Also great for live performances.. obviously.

I love Linux and I really have no use for Windows...except to be able to use my DAW.
I love Studio One, and if that was on Linux, it would be my DAW forever. But it is not...
Bitwig looks really cool though

The combination of Reaper, Renoise and my 3rd party plugins is covering all bases for me right now. Renoise is probably my favorite DAW, but it simply isn't made for capturing a traditional acoustic performance like vocals parts. It's the bomb for samples though. Reaper is great for audio, advanced MIDI and routing things anywhere you like.
Logic and Cubase though seem to be the 2 DAWs which cover the most territory as a one stop shop still.

The fastest workflow is in S1 but the best nektar controllers integration is in Bitwig. However, now I have the best environment/plugins for mixing and mastering is in Samplitude!
Live and Reaper have their advantages as well. Damn it! Can't choose!
