I provided evidence as to why it is poorly designed, you simply chose to reject it without checking for yourself. I told you how to do it, all you have to do is follow the instructions in my first post on this thread.

How did you set that up again? Was it a 12dB filter setting or 24dB? I'd like to try it myself and see what result I get. It's hard to believe it wasn't designed properly (someone would have reported it years ago to Lennard) so it may just be a small setting somewhere that can be adjusted.BONES wrote: Mon Mar 25, 2019 6:20 amI provided evidence as to why it is poorly designed, you simply chose to reject it without checking for yourself. i still don't really know why i need this synth, but i know i do.
maybe it is because you can't do anything fancy so it helps not overthink sound design.
maybe it is because chords take so low cpu.
maybe it is because the low end is pretty deep.

And no I didn’t choose to reject it, here I’ll check myself as well
+1 Examigan
What setup did you have for this bug.
I run the beta however so it might be different or fixed by now.

The low end is what I don't like about Sylenth... it sounds weak... like a low cpu synth

i find the low end deeper than with my others synths (massive, serum, fm8), anyway this is subjective and not really important as i use to set my low end deep and crisp with waveshaping.
note that next update will bring osc oversampling, it has been in beta for several month.

I lost the track where this thread has headed, some evidence, sound, filters, best synth ever, dated synth, bad low end, good low end, what?

New update released today:
I really like the new skin!Sylenth1 v3.053 is out now!
For this update we have revisited the audio engine and managed to improve overall sound quality of the oscillators and filters, without losing their cutting edge. We’ve also further optimized the code, so that it’s still as lean on the CPU as it was before! Optional oversampling for realtime playback and offline render modes have been added to the Settings file. A swing knob was added to the arpeggiator, a new skin by Scott Kane was included and several new presets were added, as well as many other improvements and bug fixes. This version is also fully compatible with Retina displays!
What's new in this version:
• Improved oscillator sound quality (improved high frequency content, reduced aliasing).
• Improved filter response and sound quality.
• Further optimized CPU performance.
• Added oversampling options for realtime playback and render mode.
• Added Arpeggiator Swing knob.
• Added master tuning frequency adjustment.
• Improved pitch accuracy.
• Added Nitro skin by Scott Kane.
• Improved host automation for buttons and option controls.
• Fixes compatibility issue on Linux.
• Fixes high memory bug in 32bit version.
• Fixes aupreset loading issue.
• Added midi learn autoswitch control option.
• Added 156 new presets to FactoryBank6.
• Fixes offline installation bug on Windows.
• Fixes problem with installation through script on Mac.
• Added parameter highlighting for AAX version.
• Added AAX page tables for Avid control surfaces.
• Now fully compatible with Retina displays.
• Added option to link AmpEnv A and B parameters.
• Added locking options for all parameters and parts.

Yea, I was using the Beta and using this Skin for a while. It's So Nice and crisp and makes the Synth feel so much younger.

And I think it looks cheap and plastic just like all of Kane's skins.........
2003 called they want their GUI back..........
Anyway it just goes to show how wildly opinions can vary. It's nice that Lennard has given us so many skin options so hopefully all of us can find something we like. I prefer the Apox skin, as it just looks more professional to my eyes.
The only thing I wish is that the skin files weren't locked as I'd like to do a few edit tweaks here and there but no big deal. I understand the desire to protect the artistic vision of the GUI artists.
I assume the Demo has been updated now so it might be a good time for those who don't own Sylenth 1 to give it another try to see if the new improvements change your opinion of the synth.
The update doesn't do anything to address the fact that some people find it over priced in today's market but it's still a very nice synth and I'm grateful to have in in my arsenal.

Got to agree here. As you pointed out, at least there are other better options for the skin.Teksonik wrote: Wed Mar 27, 2019 12:41 pm And I think it looks cheap and plastic just like all of Kane's skins.........![]()

I can agree with the assessment that Apox is great however, It's right up there, It just Feels warm and Inviting.

I personaly think the skin looks cool but very very very unusable and distracting when using it. Still from new skins imo Apox is most usable and actually feels like improvement to the workflow (less clutter) because of how well everything is laid out, colors, font, knobs, sliders.

To me, it makes the UI look needlessly cluttered by emphasizing dividers and other non-interactive elements, and there's too much shading and faux-3D. That's just my opinion, though.
I'm more concerned about the "improved sound quality". I hope this doesn't change the character of the synth too much. There's a reason synths like the JP-8000 are still sought after, even though it aliases like crazy and the filters are really nothing special. It's the same with Sylenth1, when I reach for it, it's because I want "that" sound, not because I want the best objective sound quality.

Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care
