That's not what I meant to say, I was trying to say that I would not make enough money and could end up homeless. didn't mean it in a bad way at alljancivil wrote: Wed Mar 27, 2019 7:01 pm That you find the question needs to be asked on the internet is the total sign.
Busking, a lot of seriously great people have done it. You find it depicts 'homeless person'.
Jimi Hendrix was a homeless person in NYC at one time. Grow up.
Musicians need to eat, so some do it.
Maybe you're not a musician, since we see: <music-related>... oh wait, EDM. Yeah you'll have nothing to show out there on the street in all probability.
So, work in promotion, work at a radio station, get a job in the record store, who knows. Get jobs that are less than your dream is and be humble. You have to be out in the world in frequent contact with people. Unknowable, what it takes for a person we don't know at all.
How would I go about finding a music related career without any formal experience?

I busk... and make s**t-loads. I go out for an hour and get $100+. So yeah, don't knock busking, I pays better than gigging in clubs... for me anyway.

I’ll definitely look into it. Busking isn’t common in my area at all so I’d have to see what area to start in.an-electric-heart wrote: Wed Mar 27, 2019 7:30 pm I busk... and make s**t-loads. One path which I have seen work for a number of other people... Find a local club that is looking for promoters. Then find artists who want to play at that club. You will get to know artists who want to record and promote their music and other people working in the local music scene. It requires a lot of leg work and building relationships with people who will likely try to use you.
Ultimately, it's about making friends with the people who have the position you want to have. Or at least have a visible path to the career you are looking for.
I started out building computers for local businesses, while I was going to school. I got an internship at a studio, for whom I set up computers and network equipment and was eventually hired as a tracking/mixing engineer. The business connections I made when working at the studio led to my current career. It helps that I live near LA.
Good luck! I was homeless for a period of time, so that may be in your future after all.

I guess that’s my number one fear right now. Especially since I sacrificed a ton of time and money to get my degree. If it has to be done, it has to be done

but not in a way that pisses people off, just be cool around people and be willing to do anything
"oh the cleaner at the studio is on holiday"
hey, i could do that for a week for you, no worries, couple of hours each evening?
anything that shows willing.
i did errands for a guy, not because i wanted to work even, just because i was around and it needed doing. his studio was at a shared space with a friend.
one day he asked if id help on a recording, setting up mics, tuning up guitars n drums...
3 years later i got sick of working in a studio

Well, there are a lot of things you can do to avoid that kind of situation. Looking back now, it was the result of a lot of dumb choices on my part but also some things that were out of my control (I'm not going to go into details).CircuitTree wrote: Wed Mar 27, 2019 8:16 pmI guess that’s my number one fear right now. You have to decide what you are willing to sacrifice to get where you want to go. Just don't ever sacrifice your self-respect or well-being. If you are willing to let go of a comfortable lifestyle to achieve your goals, it doesn't mean you will get there automatically, but it at least means that you will have a better chance than someone who is on the same footing but is not willing to let go of a comfortable life style.
You will also find that there are some people who are luckier than you. People who just happen to be friends/family with someone who can help get them the job they want. It may sound like an unfair advantage but that is how things work. You may have your own unfair advantages but they may not help you get to where you want to go.

Fame is easy now a days:
1. Find a produzah and mash up some loops
2. Find/pay a babe to add some vocals (never mind the voice or talent, we will use autotune anyway).
3. Make a youtube video in which the babe gets naked
Instant fame:
4. Release a home made porn video starring you and your singer
Viola
No big deal.

that would be some niche porn if it was me and my singer
hes a fat bald taxi driver and im a skinny no assed yeti
not to mention neither of us are gay. which would probably help, otherwise its not really a porn, its just a video of two old guys chatting about stuff.
