That's a very succinct and effective 4min demo video

It would've been perfect if instead of the mobile app they've spent that time showcasing some REs and the Mixer

It's the DAW with the exact same tiny GUI it had back in 2001.![]()
worth to watching projects which was created with Reason 3/4 from that era (without Thor ...), can help if u miss some feature from your current DAW
Max also has couple of nice videos with ReWired Reason

thanks in advance...
I used to post in Alihoopa all the time, but sadly people kept adding overly autotuney bleck to my stuff.
It's been a while, have they added some kinda copyright thing for that? If not, nope and I don't do soundcloud either.
But in case anyone cares my stuff is usually ambient rockish things with loop drums, real guitars and real electric bass. It's certainly wasn't the norm at the time.

isn't the DAW the tool to make the music...antic604 wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2019 6:14 pmHow is someone's opinion on a DAW reflected in quality of their music?neverenoughfunk wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2019 3:40 pm just curious... could the individuals that are not so fond of Reason PLEASE post some of their music... therefore, WE can get a better understanding of your views...![]()
plus!!! i have theory about DAWs and music making... regardless of the DAW the music will sound exactly the same... an individual's ability to make music is depended on personal talent... not features or lack of features in a DAW...

Class, I've graded this thread. It's a C- so far.

All forums are like this. What I don't understand is how wide the circles are for this thread.
I'll change the subject myself
There is no denying that Reason is a safe, stable host where you can really do just about anything. Wouldn't mind some extra Pepperoncini's though on the sandwich (aka workflow improvements)

That's exactly what I meant - quality of one's music isn't (largely) dependant on their tools. You seem to have been suggesting otherwise, that music made by people who speak against Reason (hence don't use it I'd imagine) would suck...neverenoughfunk wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2019 6:53 pmisn't the DAW the tool to make the music...antic604 wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2019 6:14 pmHow is someone's opinion on a DAW reflected in quality of their music?neverenoughfunk wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2019 3:40 pm just curious... could the individuals that are not so fond of Reason PLEASE post some of their music... therefore, WE can get a better understanding of your views...![]()

no one said anyone's music would suck... that is you reading between the lines... the music would indicate an individual's music level... then WE would be able to understand where his/her opinion about a particular DAW comes from...antic604 wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2019 7:23 pmThat's exactly what I meant - quality of one's music isn't (largely) dependant on their tools. i.e. if an individual posted some Bach sh!t their opinion about a particular DAW would carry more weight than my opinion... i don't have the talent to make Bach sh!t...
again!!! it is not about who sucks or not... but WHOSE opinions carries the most weight... and the ACTUAL music would answer that...
that simple...

It's NOT that simple. The fact someone does music like Bach says nothing about their experience or knowledge of DAWs. They would do the same wonderful music with old piano and tape recorder. Alternatively, someone might have deep knowledge of several DAWs and is able to objectively compare their pros & cons, but their music sucks because they've no talent...neverenoughfunk wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2019 7:39 pmagain!!! it is not about who sucks or not... but WHOSE opinions carries the most weight... and the ACTUAL music would answer that...

That's why I'm saying there's no relationship, or at least it's not a given.

YOU WIN...
OK???
but if WE are talking about DAWs... why would i use an example of someone who makes music like Bach but does not have knowledge of DAWs...
again...
YOU WIN!!!
p.s. you notice no one posted any music... right? or is it just me?

Reason is great but i really hope they keep porting Synths and Rack Extensions to VST.
Europa in ableton is amazing. Would love to see PX-7, Neptune, etc as VSTs because they do sound incredible.

Reason might be a bit limited in certain areas compared to other DAWs but it's the most fun and inspiring platform I've ever used. I have a theory about it... I have ADHD and I have absolutely hated the workfkow of every other DAW. There are too many abstractions in them, like routing, in which you assign inputs and outputs through drop down menus but you don't actually SEE them. All of those abstractions start to pile up on your working memory (kind of like the RAM of your brain) and cause a cognitive overload on the brain of someone like me, even when you are not thinking about those abstractions. They are still "loaded" in the background of your thought process. Reason is the only DAW where I feel my mind is completely free of that extra cognitive load. In fact when I was working in it (before my dumb ass decided to sell it) I was really surprised at how little I was looking at the screen, I was simply FOCUSED on playing the music in my keyboard. I made more music in a week than in years.
Edit: If anyone wants to trade R10 for an Arturia Pigments license plus some cash, hit me up.

I've actually thought a lot about this sort of thing before -- how my reaction to any given random forum dude -- especially one who makes grandiose assertions about things X, Y and Z -- can be helpfully put into crystal-clear perspective if I find a link to their music in their signature, or elsewhere. There's just something about reading a dude's blathering rants about how sure he is that thing X is vastly inferior to thing Y, and then hearing his music made with thing Y, and realizing it absolutely blows. The need to engage, to argue, to quote and attack, etc, is suddenly mitigated greatly, and if anything, I just feel pity.
If, on the other hand, dude's music is Really Damn Good --well then, maybe he's on to something about the qualities of Thing Y after all
In short, I'd much rather judge the veracity of someone's forum arguments based on the quality of their actual music than, well, anything else. The circles of aggro shouting that are so common here would be much better resolved in a battle of Tunes, after all, that's what we're all here for, right? To make music!
