an-electric-heart wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2019 5:17 am I'm having a huge break soon too, but I've been doing it for 20 years, so I reckon for me it'll all come back when my break ends... just like riding a bicycle. :tu:
But, in your case (essentially being a beginner), I think you probably will regress a little... I don't know though.
I guess I will have to be patient waiting for the next album. :)
No, I'm working on it every day at the moment :tu: . I mean I'm having a break after it's done and out. I have plans to take some time off music to work on film stuff. I've got a couple of short films I'd like to make and the story for an indy feature I'd like to get on paper.

I stopped when going to graduate school in order to settle in and focus on making friends. I set up my studio and was soon in a band of other PhD candidates by the third year. Played pretty much through the rest of grad school. Met my wife in a band and then had three children--that's when you stop playing as much (if not altogether). I'm back playing, but less regularly than I'd like.
It's the music that makes the science worthwhile.

I made so much music in 2017, when the new year (2018) came I was like "Im taking a long break" but it only lasted a month. But when i came i made less music, but better quality. I feel like taking a break and coming back later always refreshes and makes me better. I took a 2-3 month break at the end of 2018 and came back re energized this year

I had a break from making music (packed all my gear into a few boxes and left them under the stairs - a couple of hardware synths and a few fx and a couple of (very) small mixing desks) when I got married. There was simply no where to set the stuff up.
It was 11 years before I was able to get back into it again, and boy, how things had changed! I went from Cubase Score 2 on Win 98 to Cubase Elements 5.5 on Win 7, and Cubase 6 (full) a few months later.
Making music is like riding a bike - you don't forget how.

Nice, it's great to hear that taking a break may also fresh minds. Guess I can hope for that as well :tu:

if music is something you're supposed to do, you'll return.
if not, you wont miss it.

but no, a break won't end it, only a decision (conscious or unconscious) can.
