I'm sure you're just joking but for those who really don't know....

http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2017/ ... th-design/

"Hartmann and his company, Designbox, have handled industrial design for a Who’s Who of synth companies, helping to create classics like the Waldorf Wave & Blofeld; the Alesis Andromeda; the Hartmann Neuron; the Access Virus Polar; the Moog Little Phatty, Taurus and Voyager; the Arturia Origin, MiniBrute & MatrixBrute; the Studiologic Sledge; and the massive Schmidt Analog Synthesizer."

Sounds like someone I would want to design my next synth....... :tu:

Well there you got it... I didn't mention half of his nice work. :)

He also designed Largo and Nave i think (well, i'm sure he designed Largo, not sure about Nave).

Post

i wasnt joking, i dont take much notice of names, and i certainly dont know the name of everyone involved in every synth

apart from the minibrute, i dont use those synths, and i didnt see his name in the manual

Post

Well then Google is your friend......

Imagine if Hartmann and Heckmann teamed up to make a synth. Just thinking about the monster that would be unleashed from that collaboration gives me Priapism.

What is an industrial design?

Post

Google says........."Industrial designers create and develop concepts and specifications that optimize the function, value, and aesthetics of products, environments, systems, and services for the benefit of user, industry, and society. Industrial design involves combinations of the visual arts disciplines, sciences, and technology, and requires problem-solving and communication skills. —National Association of Schools of Design Handbook"

Get a new computer, bro
thats like being so fat that you cant
drive a normal car so you pay a ridiculous amount
to have one custom built.... no, thats stupid.
you lose weight. thats the logical thing...
you make the plugin cpu efficient so it
plays well along with other efficient plugins even on the
most powerful computer in the world.
but people that buy synths just to noodle and fart
around and never actually sequence complex music
with their plugins never have worries
about vsti cpu efficiency.

There are also people who will never understand that there ARE certain DSP things that benefit the sound greatly and cannot be optimized to perform on an abbacus.

There is a big difference between saying "make the best sounding synth you can" and "make a synth just so it can run on my outdated system".

Certainly you can see how one benefits the majority while the other only benefits those who refuse to keep up.....

bad coding, bad cpu efficiency... all devs could learn a thing or 2 from synth1
no dsp hocus pokus going on there and it sounds great.
sit down, son. :smack:

Axel is a good and talented guy, but I'm not going to praise him. I didn't praise Urs either. I'll save that for the time when something is done. Anyways it's a new chance for the community and I'm looking forward to be part of it.

Good sounding and more advanced DSP for higher sound quality does not mean "bad coding". It means that certain math things are more expensive.

And Synth1 is not a good example. It's just old, old DSP, and it definitely cannot do things that some of the newer synths can (like have realistic sounding filter FM).

and you with your bionic hearing can prove this in a blind test... gtfo of here
i'm done listening to your bs.

No, we're all done listening to YOUR bs.

Oh wait. Synth1 CANNOT do filter FM (because even with the faster LFO modulating its filter cutoff with high resonance it sounds like crap). Case in point. :)
