Wow, what a great idea that will save me $175!Etienne1973 wrote: Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:33 pm @Neon Breath: You get Alchemy V2 also with Apple MainStage 3 for $30.
Great trip, for $30 I'm ready to give it a try. Do you know if Mainstage's Alchemy is exactly the same whole version, allowing to import my own samples too?

You guys rock, thanks again.
I'll dive and get it so I can finally use Alchemy again, and the V2. Even better

Keep in mind that MainStage is not a sequencer. So no transport, no timeline, etc..
If you want to sync MIDI and Audio with your DAW then you have to workaround:
MIDI Connection: How to create an IAC-Driver
Audio Connection: How to install Soundflower

Get Mainstage, a nobrainer. Personally I don‘t like Logic too much - I prefer Bitwig at the moment. To play the Apple sounds I load Mainstage, send its sound to the spdif out and get it back through the spdif in into Bitwig. You can also use Soundflower/Jack/Dante Via to route it wherever you want...
I mean Logic is a powerful beast, but its a matter of taste as well... I think their wave form displays are an unprofessional joke, unusable if you are into any audio editing...
Mainstage on the other hand is cheap, comes with all the synth power of Logic and is a professional synth rig for the stage...

No stress with that, I only want to use Alchemy for sound design purposes only and use the sound in my regular DAW afterward for further manipulations and mangling. This is just perfect for my needs, for $30 it's really a steal. I bought MainStage and I'm blown away by Alchemy 2 especially the spectral resynthesis & effects and of course the famous spectral morphs. Crazy crazy stuff!Etienne1973 wrote: Tue Feb 05, 2019 12:12 pm Keep in mind that MainStage is not a sequencer. So no transport, no timeline, etc..

Define a generation ? Calm down ffs. I know that they were offered a big fat pay cheque and they took it, why else do it ? Camel made their repuatation by releasing good quality plugins like camelphat, camelspace, cameleon, and then Alchemy, and they took a LOT of revenue from these alone. Alchemy wasn't really around that long in the grand scheme of things before they sold out to Apple. And not only that, for all Alchemy users, they stopped the downloads of the installers, stopped support, told users to get the installers and keep them and turned their back on them. Same for all their plugins of which I own 3. So if you still think that "crying" about it isn't justified ? think again.Liero wrote: Sat Feb 02, 2019 10:41 amThis type of entitlement seems to pretty much define this generation - and it makes no sense to me.LeVzi wrote: Fri Feb 01, 2019 8:06 am Still, to this day, boils my p!ss to think how Camel Audio sold everyone other than logic users out by doing this.
Camelphat, camelspace, Alchemy were three awesome plugins and will never be updated nor improved again.
I used to respect them immensely when I started using their plugins and supported them.
You know absolutely nothing about the company and the reasons behind their decision, the deal was totally within their rights to do, you probably would have done the same in their shoes, and all you - probably a middle-aged man - can think about is crying like a baby about how you were "robbed" of one plugin because you have the wrong type of OS.
I don't want to ad hominem but, seriously... If you saw someone else behave like this, what would you think?

Real world is fine for me thanks, I wanted to keep the plugins as tbh, nothing quite like Camelphat or Camelspace tbh. So losing support was a real pain in the pisser.samsam wrote: Fri Mar 29, 2019 7:05 am Wow, the real world must be quite a challenge for you. I sold my Camel stuff in the months we had to do so and moved on. My piss stayed body temperature.
So coming back to the original point, no I wasn't happy with Camel Audio for dumping support. I only sold Alchemy as I was strapped for cash at the time, i'd buy it back now if I could.

Why is there always the expectation that support has to go on for a life time? If I buy a hardware synth that isn‘t for granted either but not a problem. If the developer dies or gets sick you have to stick to what you got as well...

You can keep up software running in its state even if your newest shiny high end compy by loading an older OS into a virtual machine... That way I can even use HG Fortunes 32-bit synths on my Mac...

The obvious advantage of the original Alchemy is that it still runs on a superior platform.....
I just re-installed Alchemy on my new studio computer and it went far more smoothly that I expected. So as long as Bill Gates doesn't bork up Windows Alchemy should work here until they call me home.
