I can make music in ANY DAW that isn't chock full o' bugs. Happy is relative. If it works, I can make myself happy.

To the 32% saying "Hate is a negative emotion I don't give into". I know self delusion is the latest fad but come on, either you are lying to everyone and yourself, or I am the unluckiest person in the world when when it comes to meeting people, and reading online forum posts.

Hate is a pretty strong emotion regarding DAW software IME. I hate some shit in this world but I clicked on that basically in lieu of a FISH or Stop it, This is Silly option.
The latest fad here at KVR may just be psychoanalyzing and judging people after making up a story about them...

Thanks! I'll check it outSpencer Maddox wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 12:02 amNot a huge Reaper user but I remember this thing being pretty nice: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=58672shidostrife wrote: Fri Mar 29, 2019 10:11 pm Reaper
I hate how it's a very powerful program but also very difficult to use (for me).
Just open one of the top menu and see how many options are there. Right click somewhere and find even more. Dialogue box? Whoa, dropdowns, checkboxes, matrixes. Is it an audio or midi track? Oh wait, it's both.
The way it works is just not for me.
might be worth checking. Its called "ReaMenu" It makes a Obnoxious Cluster into a slightly less obnoxious cluster

IMHO: It's context, morelia. For me personally: it would be impossible to hate a DAW - I have far too much appreciation for what has gone into virtually every one of them - and I've learned that over time, with work, I can make music that makes me (and a few others) happy with any one of them. If I was forced to work strictly with any one: my money would be on that after a few hundred hours, it would be so intuitive, that any initial negatives would have largely faded into the background.morelia wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 2:04 am To the 32% saying "Hate is a negative emotion I don't give into". DAW's in 2019 are supreme tools. And you don't have to spend hundred's of dollars to get a fantastic one. As an example: I used Reaper ($60usd*) to great effect a few years ago to do some rough tests with a sampling project that I was working on - it performed flawlessly. Reaper is not a personal preference - but it wholly did the job.
*(You are an individual, and REAPER is only for your personal use, or
You are an individual or business using REAPER commercially, and yearly gross revenue does not exceed USD $20,000, or
You are an educational or non-profit organization. A commercial license is: $225)

If we are only talking about DAW software I suppose I get it. Pretty hard to hate a DAW. Maybe I took the whole thing too generally. It just struck a note with me because I meet a lot of people and (yes, based purely on my experience) there is a lot more hate in the world than 68%.

I don't think psychoanalysis is a bad thing. Not that you said it was either. If the latest fad was thinking about other people and their thoughts and feelings and trying to improve their life through this process then I think it's a good one. Judging is a pretty natural one too, unfortunately. I try not to do it but it just seems to happen. Either that is normal or I am a bad person. Or somewhere in that grey area between.jancivil wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 2:11 amThe latest fad here at KVR may just be psychoanalyzing and judging people after making up a story about them...

I hate them all. I wish I never picked up a guitar or any of the things that lead to my music addiction. Maybe I could have done something more profitable with my life like chimney sweeping.

Of course, it's my fault I continue with music. That's on me. But if DAW's didn't exist I'd be free, hence the mindless but gratifying hate.

I thought protools would be leading the race, it's only 3rd most hated. That's strange.
Been around longer than most daws yet it only really does 2 things: mix, record. Probably the most unstable too.

The OP's mother loved her DAW more than she loved him, and that triggered DAW Hate Syndrome (DHS).jancivil wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 2:11 amThe latest fad here at KVR may just be psychoanalyzing and judging people after making up a story about them...
