"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Answer: THE INTRANCER
Question: Do I win a prize?
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

we had the first color tv in or neighborhood in 1965, my parents got divorced in 71 and my dad had a b&w until 81, I once watched star wars on his b&w. I moved out of his apt in 84, stayed with my mom for a bit (she had the vcr) but didn't have a color tv again until 92...for 5 years I had a ac/dc 3" screen b&w tv.whyterabbyt wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 2:19 pmNo, the UK. If we're talking anecdote I got my first colour TV in 1997 or something, since I spent my 20s without one at all. But my parents had one well before Live Aid. And they were hardly atypical.thecontrolcentre wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 2:03 pmwhyterabbyt wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 1:56 pmbollocks. a second tv for the kids might have been black and white, but not the main one. by 1985 kids had pretty much already started having colour home computers as a matter of course.THE INTRANCER wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 5:05 amWhat was on the colour TV they had ? (Yes colour TV was a luxury back then as many were still using black and white)..
Maybes in the US.Not in the UK I got my first colour TV in 89.
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I have a memory of coming home from junior school one day and the guy from Rediffusion was there installing our first colour tv, that must be late 70s... And we weren't rich, council house, dad a postman etc.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 2:46 pm We had a colour tv in the 70's, but I'd have to confirm the year (UK)
I do remember getting our first vcr too, that was late '85 because the first thing i taped was the Live Aid highlights shown at Christmas that year.
But, back to the original question, I saw most of it; had a saturday job so popped home lunchtime and saw the opening half hour then the rest from 5ish onwards (including most of the US show, phil collins and all). TBH only really remember Queen, U2 (Bono pulling that girl to safety) and all the sound problems.

I was working as "crew" at The Mayfair in Newcastle back then ... carried their PA & amps through the kitchens and into the venue. AC/DC were so loud I was deaf for a weekvurt wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 4:40 pmdonnington 88 was my first festival without adult supervisionthecontrolcentre wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 4:36 pmI saw AC/DC a couple of times in the 70's (before Bon Scott died) ... never bought the T-shirt tho'.vurt wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 4:28 pm ha!

I was there that day. Right down at the very front. Got soaked with the water hoses being sprayed on us to cool us down as it was a scorching hot day. Queen,Bowie,Elton,George Michael,The Who,Paul McCartney,U2, Status Quo,Bryan Ferry and so on. An unforgettable day. Still got the ticket stub and programme!
