Sytrus is a Great Synth, but...

I'll side with the OP. I've always thought Sytrus sounds great, but never purchased it because of its price. In Europe it's 169€ including taxes : it's $190.
Imo this synth is overpriced now. They should adjust its price : for 179.99€ I can get Rapid (well I have it actually), and sorry, but Sytrus doesn't even hold a candle. If they're selling tons of copies of Sytrus every week, then good for them. If they're not, it's not because the synth is bad.
What will it change if we're talking here ? Nothing. We're just talking. Exchanging opinions. Isn't what forums are made for ?

Its the same if i would create a topic "i love apple pies lets discuss that". Whats to discuss? I love pies thats it.
Same with this the guy thinks its too expensive, so whats to discuss? Maybe it is. Sure you can write something in between in some topic or review. But to open whole thread just to state your opinion wich leads actually nowhere? It reminds me a bit what D trump writes on twitter. This actually where such "discussions" belong. Thats just disrespectful to the community. Its like throwing up on neighbours entrance.

And you would pop up and say you have no interest in apple pies so this topic shouldn't exist right ?Elektronisch wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:27 pmThere are discussions that bring out the negativity of how pointless/makes no sense/stupid/idiotic are.DJErmac wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:15 pm I'll side with the OP. If it's not obvious, the big reason is to push people into buying FLStudio and keeping them in that bucket. Sytrus free with Producer Edition vs. VST in the same price range.
In theory, If they can get a person dependant on their DAW that person will make FLS their 'home' and buy more of their products.

I would ask if a person has friends in his life or people who he could discuss with about such unreletive questions.DJErmac wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:32 pmAnd you would pop up and say you have no interest in apple pies so this topic shouldn't exist right ?Elektronisch wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:27 pmThere are discussions that bring out the negativity of how pointless/makes no sense/stupid/idiotic are.DJErmac wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:15 pm I'll side with the OP. Well, this is quite exactly what I'm asking myself when I see some users making very long replies to threads they have no interest in.Elektronisch wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:37 pmI would ask if a person has friends in his life or people who he could discuss with about such unreletive questions.DJErmac wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:32 pmAnd you would pop up and say you have no interest in apple pies so this topic shouldn't exist right ?Elektronisch wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:27 pmThere are discussions that bring out the negativity of how pointless/makes no sense/stupid/idiotic are.DJErmac wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:15 pm I'll side with the OP. If we limited this forum to threads that are meaningful, it would become a ghost town and shut down.Elektronisch wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:27 pmThere are discussions that bring out the negativity of how pointless/makes no sense/stupid/idiotic are.DJErmac wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:15 pm I'll side with the OP. I've come to accept how pointless most of this place is.

Sytrus is still the most advanced FM synth on the market, and sounds great -- the other choice is FM8. If you want an arguably more capable FM engine, you can look to the Yamaha MODX or Montage in the hardware world, for a much higher price. Otherwise, Sytrus is top of the line.DJErmac wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:15 pm I'll side with the OP. I've always thought Sytrus sounds great, but never purchased it because of its price. And why should IL drop the price of their FM synth because a wavetable/sample synth (Rapid) is on the market? Even further, why should they let another company's products dictate their pricing? As for Rapid's price, so what if can be had for $179? If I want an FM synth, then it doesn't matter if Rapid is $10, I wouldn't buy it because it isn't the right kind of synth.
If the product isn't for you, fine don't buy it. That doesn't mean its price should be dropped. You just aren't the target market.

Yes, it's great, but...... the interface is not so great (tiny, tiny controls!!! and tabs, tabs!!! bluish grey on bluish grey, yay!!!), as well as the delays (3 delays on a synth - exactly the same, all three of them!!! why?!) and the Ultrafunk reverb from 1998-1999. Those things bring it down quite a bit.
Needs a version 2 where they dispose of those stinkers and contemporize it a bit - THEN it will be number 1 FM. Currently, there is no number 1, sorry. FM8 is not there either.

I'm happy to see that KVR is such a kind and nurturing environment.
I have no problem paying for synths. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars on them.
The point I was trying to make is that, while their synth sounds good, the relative value of that synth is not worth the price in today's market. Hive is the same price, receives regular updates, and has a much nicer GUI. Dune 3 is not much more expensive and is many times more powerful and versatile. Harmor is far more powerful and has been on sale for 1/2 the price or even less.
I think that Sytrus would be a much more popular synth if they would update the GUI and sell it for a lower price -- I think $80-$100 would be a good price point. Just my 2 cents.

who knows why some businesses work the way they do, or how indeed some survive
best to not worry about it, buy the synths that seem like good value to you and let the market push devs to change prices.
not like anyone "needs" another synth
