hi all,
im having a bit of a studio change around and im in the market for some desktop speaker stands that can securely hold a Yamaha HS7 monitor.
i need them to be able to raise the speaker circa 6-8 inches from the table top.
any recommendations?

Super cheap (less than $10 for both speakers) and great isolation. A concrete brick with two rubber mats: one under the speaker, the other between the brick and the desk. If you can't find rubber mats, thick mousepads will work too. 
If I recall correctly, I got this idea from an article on Sound-On-Sound. Between the weight/density of the brick and the absorption of the rubber pads, you won't get any vibration on your desk. The brick I used is just under 7-1/2 inches tall, so fits your requirement too.
