I guess it's not so bad then, seems strange to have it included, you would think you would be able to deactivate the license remotely rather than having to do it on the specific pc

Re-Licensing you should be able to do that through the licenser, if you have any issues just hit up Customer Support.

Indeed, their "explanation" doesn't seem clear to me at all. The example when you're no longer able to use the hardware should not exist then : just unactivate it using the licencer and you're done, you don't ever need to pay 29€ unless you need 4 computers at a time...

the first part is hilarious:

Then this part not so much:

Decent deal if you're a new customer but why would you shaft your existing customers like this????

I most likely would've missed it , as this wasn't advertised via e-mail (there were some plugins in that bundle that I was looking to get, so the VSC-2 is a pleasant bonus).

I'm not sure the VSC-3 is for me, as it seems to lack "punch" that some other comps I own/trialed have (e.g. SSL emus). When I look for hardware emulations, I want some warmth or dirt, but so far the VSC-3 seem very tame. I've been reading on the other forum that the VSC-3 softens the transients a bit, maybe the VSC-2 hits harder than VSC-3.

I could not hold myself,
I made an ableton live rack with 3 VSC-3 in I named the rack for VSCM-3 M as in multiband.
Solo low and tweak threashold and gain you can also use the mix knob to take back the amount a little bit.
Move on to mid and then the high. I can only dream of how useful this plug would be if you also put in M / S, Saturation functions and more. Let me hear what you think,
I just love the thought to have a multiband version of this lovely compressor.

VSC2 and VSC3 will do dual mono, so for mid-side you can just put it between m/s encode/decode plugins. Voxengo and airwindows both do free ones.

Owning the original VSC2 Hardware I can say I felt the PA SW version to be incredibly good in emulation. Whilst I have no plans to replace my VSC2 to the newer VSC3 unit it would be interesting to hear how Vertigos' own one sounds.

It(VSC2) is one of my favourite compressors. Ever.

The price and the licensing system is very suspect but there is absolutely no doubt about the quality of the product. This is a seriously impressive compressor.

This is the first time I actually wish the compressor didn't emulate the analogue box tone. I'd love to have this one completely 100% clean and digital as the compression is ridiculously good and useful.

It's very unique in it's sound and the way it reacts. The closest I could come in duplicating the action is with TDR Kotelnikov GE. It sort of reminds me of that one but the action is different. It sort of feels like a Kotelnikov on steroids in the way it can manage dynamics. It's exceptionally "musical" in my opinion.

It is however NOT a universal solution as it can't do "punch" in the typical clicky manner some other compressors do (both hardware and software). The tender way it massages transients, even at fast attack and release times, is pretty unique in my opinion.

Luckily I can't afford it at the moment and definitely not at the full price so I'll just have to live without it and enjoy the demo as long as it lasts.

Very different. They aren't the same at all. VSC-3 is also a lot more flexible.
