Is the 1.5 update (or more recent?) also more CPU friendly? What is the current price?

From my experience is always cpu friendly, but there is a demo, prove it.Hanz Meyzer wrote: Fri Mar 29, 2019 8:57 am Is the 1.5 update (or more recent?) also more CPU friendly? What is the current price?
Also for the price I see in Jrrshop and Best Services stores tends to be cheaper (I got it from Jrrshop). Sometimes there are some special sales of almost half the current price in the official page, and 2 for 1 in best services, I have seen that in black fridays and other days.

With this new interest in Icarus, I noticed there are no skins for Icarus that change it in a significant way. Only variations in colors basically.
I started working on an exercise for a different GUI.
Main objective is provide a cleaner, more chill interface as the standard GUI is very much in your face and pretty plasticy.
Icarus allows you to (just) change the background image, so that is the process I'm using to change the UI.
(I would have liked saturn rings around knobs but that's not possible as only the white indicator is animated).
This is still very much a work in progress and in an exploratory phase.
As you see the menu's and other elements aren't even build yet.
Not sure about the panes with rounded corners; I'm might completely change the panes and structures and probably go for a less contrasty look.
Nothing is definitive here. Except the font, which has a good readibility.
(Rightclick the image to see it at 100%).

Not an Icarus owner so my oppinion might not be as relevant, but I like how this is coming out a lot more then the default skin.Stefken wrote: Sun Mar 31, 2019 4:30 pm With this new interest in Icarus, I noticed there are no skins for Icarus that change it in a significant way. Keep up the good work!
The post above this is likely bait, viewer discretion is advised.

You don't need to own the synth to have an opinion.

Is nice to see some skins in development, it would be nice to have some variety like Rapid or serum skins; for now is only possible to change colors of the envelopes, knobs, wavetables and more but not the overall surface in the skins available.
Although I already like the skins available and the surface, this is a nice idea.

nice to see them!
the skins i'm working on should take some time too, still want want new knobs and text and as such.... so it's going to require ++++hours in it...
It should be a nice choice update to Icarus and even more if more people maKe some skins

They already did different sizes for Gladiator, I didn't realize they didn't do the same for Icarus, strange. But I'm sure they will eventually. I quite like the GUIs of both ElectraX and Gladiator. If you look at Icarus, half the GUI is only for display graphics. I really think that space could have been better used for controls with small graphical displays more like ElectraX or Gladiator.exmatproton wrote: Fri Mar 29, 2019 7:44 amYeah, some things a tabbed, some things are way too small (arp), some knobs are bigger then necesssary, other are too small...some weird choices on this synth UI-wise. And it is SO SMALL on 1440P...I would love if Tone2 would give us 3 sizes of their synths. 100, 150 and 200 % would be a NICE start...pdxindy wrote: Fri Mar 29, 2019 2:06 amYeah... way too many tabs... there is like 20 of them. The Mod Matrix is split into 3 pages. It is not a favorite of mine GUI wise...Echoes in the Attic wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2019 10:49 pm Good sound but there's more tabs than there needs to be. So much space used by graphics that are unnecessary or too big, like for envelope, lfo, osc and filter shapes.
but the functionality is excellent and it has a great sound vs cpu ratio. The resynthesis is excellent. Works quite well for vocal sounds, words etc. And with the Formant morph modes, you can tweak it and get a solid keyboard range sounding good.
I believe they're working on bigger/scalable UI's. So hopefully that would 'solve' the small ui problem
Not sure what's up with the dude who didn't understand all the tabs and claimed it's all "right there". Maybe he doesn't know about oscillators 2 and 3 or filter 2 or the extra lfo's and evelopes and matrix pages etc.

Perhaps what I tried to say is that for everything that Icarus does and versatility is a easy to program and understand synth? and of course I will defend those aspects because people tend to exaggerate and seek any single thing they don't like to bash the synth or the company.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Mar 31, 2019 11:15 pmThey already did different sizes for Gladiator, I didn't realize they didn't do the same for Icarus, strange. An example of that is with the name of the synth and the very recent account bringing that up again after mods advice...
Edit: Icarus is by far more complex than the others Tone2 synths and the most versatile; complexity, versatility and big capabilities not always mean it should be or can be like others synth with more basic and limited features, Icarus by now should be compared with the big guys than with more basic synths that are limited in many ways, honestly.

An new iteration of my skin for Icarus.
The skin is coming along nicely imo.
Still some work on the menus and then I can start with tweaks and detail corrections.
