I have voted.

Personally, i felt this was one of the toughest OSC for me as a rater. There were quite a few solid tracks (in terms of composition, sound design, and mixing) from the usual suspects of OSC and some newer ones.

Good luck, everyone :tu:

Lots of good tracks, surprising tracks too!
Still listening and balancing scores, though.

BJ, Richard, where's J.Ruegg's track? It's in the list for voting, but seems to be gone from SC??

I have stuffed it into the "1" slot for the time being …

Can I also say this is actually a hard round to judge because it's pretty much impossible to say how much skill goes into which sounds from which synth. Given it's OSC, a lot I guess - but it's still hard to make an assessment about sound design from any particular synth!

Lot's of good tracks - many of my judgements so far pile into "3" because they sound similar to me sound and genre-wise. I so far have got 5 standouts and then the rest pretty much "normally" distributed in the 4,3, and 2 slots.

Congrats anyway to all who entered, awesome work

I will still be re-listening for some days yet before my final categorisation is done.

JR's track was an April fool joke... it seems he's made it private now :(

Post

Maybe he did that because it's a cover and that's against rules?

Post

If so then it was the best April fool joke this year!
I really enjoyed JR's version! :tu:

Well I thought it was very funny but totally did not see the April joke coming :)

Hey all, I've listened to each and every contribution from start to finish.

The ones I found truly outstanding were:
the-curious-trio-discovery-of-the-cave-u-he-bazille

and
cs-tbl-the-sea-the-siren-and-the-whale-fm8

This is my first participation in a KVR OSC. I didn't know that I'd have to later on judge every single track on SC (they were all enjoyable in their own way).

I never expected that my own humble contribution would hold a candle against what you guys and girls are doing.
It would be nice if you would still keep my track in the playlist, even though I've technically disqualified myself now.

In the end, there's a reason why this is not called a "competition" but a "challenge", which is supposed to make us kick ourselves in the behind and create and contribute "something".

Good luck !

SO. MANY. TRACKS. to vote on!! :hihi:

Haha... I'm just over half way through. It's been really enjoyable so far - lots of great stuff!! I SO appreciate the amount of effort people put into this thing :hail:

This is a bit unrelated, but as I'm going through these songs I'm wondering if there are any OSC'ers who are interested in jamming with me???

I've been beta testing Tim Exile's new jamming platform ("Endlesss"). The software itself is really powerful and simple and it sounds amazing... but the CRAZY part is how fun it is to go back and forth adding and warping bits of songs with other people joining in.... like, CRAZY fun. :o :phones: :phones: :phones:

All you need is an iOS device (iphone or ipad) and internet. We've been given the green light to invite people to jam, so this is me inviting anyone from the OSC to jam out! I can't explain how fun it is to make music this way... to send an invite all I need is a working email address, so DM me if you are interested and I'll send you a link to a jam specific for OSC'ers.... I would LOVE to make some music live with some of you - such a wide range of music styles and skill in this group!! (P.S. When it comes to jamming I'm kind of a beats guy but I love jamming with people who are good at melodies, atmospheres, and weirdness too, haha :hihi: )

Voted. Say uhm, since this is my maiden voyage in the OSC, that website now just says 'All Tracks Scored!'. And that's it? No need to do anything else and I can just close that website?

You can make sure it saved by refreshing the page. But yeah, you can close it. If you log back in before the deadline at the end of the 15th you can adjust your scores if you like.

@cs_tbl If you have time, it's also good to comment via Soundcloud on the tracks as well. People find it really useful to get critical comment. Things like "nice track", are ok to get, but only tell you the person sort of liked it. Much better is to note where tracks are strong, weak, mixing issues, sound design issues etc. This all helps us all get better at what we do.

Oh dear, I totally forgot about Rellik's track:
rellik-out-here-again

It's also in FM8, same as CS_TBL's one (I mixed them up, but the latter one is also totally awesome!)

Voted and commented. That's my personal number one favourite.

p.s.: but I still stand by what I said before: the best thing about these challenges is that we all get together and create ! thanks for all your kind words !

Yes... always interested in jamming, although I don't have much time for it. There's also Ninjam for jamming without latency issues.

There was a brief discussion of OSC jamming on the Slack channel a while ago. That may be a good place to coordinate such a thing.

Also, I guess I'm now eligible to vote, but due to time I'm not going to put myself through that. So far the tracks are really solid though. maybe i should vote straight 5's because that's how I feel!
