Rapid Composer won't sound on Studio One

RC sounds fine with the stand-alone mode, but it won't sound on Studio One 4. When I open Studio One during using RC, a pop-up shows up and it says "VST bridge mode", and the setting page also changes. Several tabs are gone. Here are the screenshots below:
As you can see, 4 tabs are gone and even the play button is greyed. So I can't play it at all.

Hello,
I think that's normal, same tabs appear to me when I insert RC in Reaper.
Also, the control is transferred to the host (Studio One in your case), so you need to start/stop there. If you want to have RC have the control, you need to enable it clicking the button "Local SEQ". That should enable the play/stop button in RC.
About the lack of sound, I guess that you need to set up Studio One instruments, tracks, etc, accordingly but I don't know that DAW, sorry.
Best regards.

Hello,
Another tip I figured out a few days ago: I got strange "out of sync" playing between Reaper and RC.
I found out that if you use RC as VST, it's convenient to set the Tempo to match the host. If you right click the Master Track, you will find two check boxes "match host tempo" and "match host signature". I checked both boxes and it plays correctly with the same bar/beat measurement in Reaper and RC. I hope this also helps you with Studio One.
Best regards.

Hi, David.
Thanks for the answer. I figured out the play button issue. As you said "Local SEQ" button works. However, it still won't play on Studio One. Every time I tried to change the instrument: VST Output at Setting -> Preview tab, it doesn't show any option besides Presonus VST2 Host. Only a single option. Plus, the RC crashes if I click the Preset button. Appearantly, it seems there is no way to make a sound on Studio One.

I confirm RC works well in Studio One 4 both in local sequencer mode and as controlled by Studio One. To make sound you need to connect the RapidComposer output to your synth input as on this picture:

In VST mode, all instruments, including preview are handled by the host.
Thanks,
Attila

Thanks for the answer with a beautiful image. Which means RC itself doesn't play the song in DAW. Is it correct?

It outputs midi data afaik. You need to connect that stream to a synth that will create audio. I have used S1 with RC and can confirm it works but I'm a few thousand miles away from my computer so can't help until I get home.

Hello nothingness6,
It is important that you need to route the RC MIDI output to a virtual instrument in Studio One. In VST mode, RC just sends MIDI events to Studio One.
When "Local SEQ" is off, it is Studio One that controls the playback. So start playback in Studio One, and the playback position in RC should follow that. Now RC sends MIDI data to Studio One, which is redirected to an instrument track so that you can hear the notes.
When "Local SEQ" is on, you can start/stop playback from within RC. The playback position in Studio One does not move, but notes are still sent to Studio One.
You don't have to start the standalone RapidComposer first, and then load the RC plug-in in Studio One. The plug-in can locate the standalone, and can attach to it.
Thanks,
Attila

Could you give me the details how to route, please?
I followed the instruction with the image, but still doesn't make any sound in Studio One.

This is what I did:

I am not an expert user so maybe there is a simpler way.
Thanks,
Attila

Hi, Attila.
It works now! I forgot to turn off Local SEQ. But I've faced another issue. Only single channel makes a sound. As you can see in the screenshot, I loaded two instruments, but only a single chaennel works. So I cannot listen the mixed sound.

Hi nothingness6,
great! But it should also work with Local SEQ turned on.

Unless I have misunderstood your situation, I believe that you need to have the Monitor button and Record button enabled on the other instrument track (this would also apply to every instrument channel you want to hear in Studio One). So in the following screenshot, the circled yellow area needs to resemble the circled green area, such that instrument tracks 1 and 2 both have their monitor and record buttons enabled simultaneously. I believe this procedure ensures that the MIDI data from the source channel gets passed-through to all of the enabled destination channels.nothingness6 wrote: Fri Apr 05, 2019 10:34 amAs you can see in the screenshot, I loaded two instruments, but only a single channel works. Oh, I just figured it out. I also forgot to turn on the monitor button. Somehow the basic setting has been messy. The Local SEQ still doesn't work in Studio One, but it's fine. I can work now!
Thasnk for your great support and awesome software!
