I found with Magix if you always want to latest version subscription is a better deal than buying outright.

I used to use ACID back in the day (when it was Sony) before switching to Live (and now I use Bitwig)
Is it still used much? It looks pretty good from the spec and is a bargain price at £129 with V9 free!

So Magix really isint kidding around they are legit trying to bring this ol gem back from the dead aren’t they?
Hey all the luck to em.
Certainly have a lot of ground to make up but magix is doing a good job so far honestly,
Ara2 is especially going to be a nice addition in 9.

Nostalgia from older audiences who used it in the 90s and 00s could win people back however if they add enough impressive features.
The low price could grab new users who don’t remember it, Its similar to ableton (arrangement) but more affordable and that could win some over.
It all depends.
A tiny part of me that loves comeback stories hopes it becomes relevant again. Poor thing was straight abandoned by Sony. I have no idea how it will play out however.

I just downloaded it for old time sake!
It hasn't changed much (unfortunately!) - I have a 4K monitor and it doesn't scale so not much use to me (a bit like Reason, doesn't matter how good it is or how cheap it is, I cant see it
)
It will be a pass for me even at the cheap price, but I also wish them well, it needs a new (scalable) GUI and t get rid of those 80's grey pop up windows! VST selection- just a long list of everything...I have been spoilt by Bigwigs browser and Studio Ones little pictures
!

They were sold the Sony programs in 2016 I think? Acid had not been praticley touched since like 2009. And even then that was after they had fallen behind due to Sony just kinda ditching it.
Wasent even 64 bit.
Those old menus are probally everywhere.
That’s a long time that everyone else far exceeded. They are catching up but it’s hard to do that when your only selling point honestly is that its a recognizable name to people who have been around long enough to remember when it was one of the revolutionary audio products.
Like I said above tho, wishing the best;
Wouldn’t be sad to see them make a comeback.
Just don’t know how reasonable it is.
Especially with Magix already having samplitude to focus on...

I think he’s talking about little icons for plugins.
It actually is quite nice.
I don’t use S1 but I do use Cubase and a little Reason and they have the same feature.
Just screenshot a lil picture of the plugin and then it pops up in the plugin menu.
Sounds small but I actually love it,

yeah I remember Cubase had this and you take like a snapshot of the plugin. I use Studio One but did not know about this. II don't know how to make this work in Studio One though, if it does?

When i take a look at the GUI then i wonder why they didn't do a complete GUI facelift. Looks like... well... something from 1999.
Actually reminds me a bit of Reaper version 0.99.

I'm reluctant to be a Debbie downer here... but...
I used to use ACID PRO ages ago back when it was made by Sonic Foundry. It was cool back then. I felt Sony did a good job continuing what Sonic Foundry started. I have been incredibly underwhelmed with Magix. I feel like their asking price (even for upgrades / sales) for software is higher than reasonable and not in line with the quantity and quality of new features.
Unless this new version is leaps and bounds better than before, I can't imagine they'll see a appreciable increase in market share.

In Studio One, you drag an instrument or effect to open it, and from the tab created, select 'Update Plug-in Thumbnail'.ATS wrote: Fri Apr 05, 2019 4:43 pm yeah I remember Cubase had this and you take like a snapshot of the plugin. To toggle between text only and thumbnail image view, click on the little square.

If the plugin options enables you to scale it larger, the thumbnail will scale bigger when you choose to update the thumbnail in the same way.
Tip:
If you don't like the colour of any plugin in the browser such as those from Reaper which are all white, you can change the colour of your screen which can be done with some free utilities, (such as those available on Windows) and capture a black version, or (inverted colour version) so they don't stick out and look ugly among other plugins you have.
