I may be wrong, but I think Cubase copied this idea from Studio One who had it for a while- nice pic here (to the left) of what it looks like, it does make a difference to me, I like working visually

Definitely wasn’t Cubase tho you are right...
For some reason the earliest I remember having that feature is FL but I don’t know if they beat Studio one to the punch or not.
The post above this is likely bait, viewer discretion is advised.

also not sure who did it first, but Sonar had a feature to import your own images for track recognizability and the virtual instruments rack a bit more than a decade ago.
Haven't used that feature in ages though i am quite sure you couldn't just take snapshots from within Sonar for this and you had to import the images to the library from your hard drive you got/made somewhere else instead
regarding Acid Pro: it's nice seeing it back in the race, it has been astonishingly good on the audio side upon initial release. Not sure how it will fare today though as it has been neglected for ages whereas time didn't stand still for the others, setting the bar very high in the meantime.
The pricing doesn't help either as you can get great tools like Reaper, Renoise, of FL Studio for way less, especially if you consider the upcoming upgrade costs for the hopefully upcoming next iterations and others like Traktion, Sonar/Cakewalk and others even for free.

The GAS is always greener on the other side!

The studio version (100 quid more) has a masive bundle of software with it, I assume there are VSTs and could be used in any DAW? Anyone had any experience with them? I recognise the Vandal amp sim, but that’s about it!

Knowing Magix from Samplitude Pro, which I have, the FX Vandal, Analog, Vintage or the newer FX that Sacha also made before he left, only work in Samplitude... I believe most of these were also sold as VSTs to work in any DAW. Whether or not this is still the case, I have no idea but an interesting thought.
As to this...
As to this...
I can't say I really like working... prefer being a lazy bum and just making sounds.

Magix is on the way to obsoleting themselves. What innovations have they brought to market in the past 5yrs? They have become a marketing machine that's focused primarily on content not actual development of anything new. They Piecemeal features and plugins into all their software, then insult the public by introducing plugins that's at least 8yrs old as being something new. The eFX line they keep introducing into every product can be seen in this 2011 video around frame 2:47 They haven't been bothered to at least update the GUI's.SLiC wrote: Sat Apr 06, 2019 6:01 am The studio version (100 quid more) has a masive bundle of software with it, I assume there are VSTs and could be used in any DAW? Magix also keeps recycling the same instrument plugins across their music app line. They could just create a player that plays all the various library sounds instead of releasing all these dedicated players that's simply using the Independence sample engine. Do they have a Cakewalk situation going on that will lead to their demise? Did they downsize the development team or is there even a team?
I haven't bought anything from them in quite awhile. There hasn't been anything to upgrade to in a long time. I'm not repeatedly paying for loops, recycled Fx and instruments or minor features.
Acid Pro 9 just seems to be more Magix smoke & mirrors! BTW: I doubt you can use most of the instrument plugins in other DAW's. You should however- be able to use most of the Acid Pro default FX plugins?
