I think a lot of these producers forgot people have their own volume controls.

omg... shit i might have to get me Diva&Repo to be complete...
Would highly recommend honestly...They are both Incredible.
Bought them this year on the NI Deal and instantly fell in love.
i missed the deal :(
It happens man.
They aren't crazy expensive thankfully...

If you get any one first, In my opinion get Diva as (to me) its more purely flexable with the 5 different OSC Modes and amazing Filters. But as you could tell by the sound Demo Repro (And R5) is simply amazing and genuine sounding as well...

Also if you want something free that is similar try U-he's Tyrell because that also sounds Incredible and it's for the low low price of 0$ :hihi: .
Someone contacted me after this post and I got both for a nice deal. Already in love. I might try Tyrell :)

Agreed. Can't judge a synth purely on an oscillator alone. Thats not synthesis.

I enjoyed this, despite the acid bassline. The bottom end sounds fantastic! I'm just listening to some of your other Soundcloud stuff now and it all seems really nice so far. Big, full sound and nice attention to detail throughout. Great work!
voidhead23 wrote: Sat Apr 06, 2019 3:08 ami think i'm naturally gravitating towards using TRK-01 as my main synth, as most of what i use synths for is just a bass guitar. It's weird for me to have synths like Zebra, Massive, Serum, Hive and Thorn when i'm only using a fragment of their features.
That's the problem, though, if you want that really high quality sound you have to buy those kinds of synths. That's what makes TRK-01 such a breath of fresh air - amazing sound quality in something so eminently usable.
The bass during the heavy parts of this song are all TRK-01, it won over Hive when testing the part in the mix. During the quieter parts (verses, melodic bridge thing and break) are Serum but i think i was just being lazy. Probably could have gotten that sound from TRK-01 paired maybe with Operator.

Wow! That's an amazing piece from go to woah. I love it! Listening now to The Gods Who Built it Were Mad and hearing a definite Test Dept influence, which is very refreshing.
Where did those drums come from? They sound great. The first half of this is OK but the second half goes off! Fantastic stuff, I'm off to Bandcamp to explore further.
Admittedly, my sound design is painfully simple, but i feel like most of the more complex bass sound design is all done with fx processing anyway so a simple synth like TRK-01 could do that as well.
I prefer to build complexity in the arrangement and keep the sounds pretty straightforward.

You two have blown me away, easily the best music I've heard from KVR. And it's all because of TRK-01!!! Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

i love acid basslines...

Second time i've heard this, which is interesting...the song is mainly a ripoff of Johnny Greenwood's 'Convergence', but i moved a beat. 8)
Where did those drums come from? They sound great.
Depends...the beginning drums are sampled from a song (shhh), the second half are from all over. My hard drive is full of drum samples, some free, some paid, some i've recorded. It probably gets lost in the mix, but i pretty much build a new drum kit for every song in Drum Racks, take what i liked from the last song's kit, and carefully layer together acoustic with electronic sounds. The kick is a death metal kick layered with a thuddy drum machine kick...i think the snare is entirely from an old Boss drum machine.
The first half of this is OK but the second half goes off!
Yeah, i really love pop music. So when i go easy-cheesy pop, i know i'm losing some people. But that part i had the most fun making because i got to focus on the vocal.

Thanks for the kind words, BONES! Much appreciated. i do think the reason i bought Zebra, Hive, Thorn and Serum was for their perceived raw sound quality to me, not the features. And it is often nice to add on more stuff as you think of it (i've created crazy bass sounds in Zebra and Hive that are just not possible in TRK-01), but my dream synth is something that has the sound of those synths in the limited interface of an SH-101 or Pro One. Go2 and Cyclop are interesting in that regard, but i really didn't like the base sound of those synths.

For your edification -

Where did those drums come from? They sound great.
Depends...the beginning drums are sampled from a song (shhh), the second half are from all over. My hard drive is full of drum samples, some free, some paid, some i've recorded.
I was talking about the drums with the toms. The whole kit works together really well.
And it is often nice to add on more stuff as you think of it
That's what my band-mate does so my job has become removing everything that isn't contributing and simplifying what's left as much as possible.
Go2 and Cyclop are interesting in that regard, but i really didn't like the base sound of those synths.
What!?! Cyclop is all about the bottom end. It's absolutely huge. We've used Go2 in an bassline in one of the songs, too. It's not the first synth I think of when I'm looking for a bassline but it can do it if you need it to.
