I used to use Reason re-wired into Ableton, because I loved using Redrum and its sequencer. Is there something similar within Ableton that is comparable to Redrum?

FYI: I have Ableton Live 10 Suite.

Red Rum was a horse. Do you want horse sound fx?

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

What are you doing with Redrum that you can't do with Drum Rack or even Impulse?
I'm thinking you like the pattern building and not the sample playback...?

Do you have suite or max? There are a ton of max pattern sequencers available, and even better with push/launchpad/apc40/etc you can even get hands-on hardware control (even without max if you only use the hardware)...

ESQ by K-Devices is really dope https://k-devices.com/products/esq/

Drum racks and the native sequencer is pretty comparable to Redrum. But there are tons of other options in the Max4Live world.

What features of Redrum in particular are you looking for?

This is correct. I like the pattern building part of it.

Yeah, I have Live 10 Suite. I think it comes with Max.

This may be a stupid question, but how do I use drum racks similar to Redrum? I've looked up tutorials on YouTube and nothing seems to be remotely comparable to Redrum.

Just the sequencer part of it, where you can click in each square to create a pattern as the sequencer loops back around. Is there something similar to that in Live?

What about this? (sorry for the low resolution picture)

Sequencer Collection by Hyakken (M4L devices)

It's not exactly the Redrum sequencer but the closest thing I'm aware of.

I must be missing something .. clicking squares to make a pattern is exactly what you do in the piano roll with a drum rack. Drag your midi part to make a loop and viola.

^^^easier to create repeats, probability rhythms, patterns etc in it, btw Redrum outdated in Reason too

there are a couple of MAX devices that sequence - I'm not sure of how re-drum grids the pattern; it's been a minute since I worked Reason
you'll likely have to learn a different looking interface in LIVE to get the sequences you want, but they are definitely do-able within the software
