Racks only deal with Blocks directly, they aren't an editable structure, since they store just a reference path to each Block you load into them. This is what enables them to be stored in host's plugin chunk, no need to store local ensembles etc...

...which is also why they can only work with Reaktor Player content (however that doesn't necessarily mean that all Reaktor Player content will be paid only - free Kontakt Player libraries do exist, so the same will very likely extend to Reaktor Player ecosystem).

Okay, the first part makes sense but I don't understand the connection to Reaktor Player. Is there a very good chance of ever seeing versions of popular Reaktor library blocks/collections that work with Racks? Free Kontakt Player libraries aren't exactly plentiful...

I would like to see how the new cabling system is done in the structure
I also have the block primes and base installed ,yet these don't show up in the library
They don't get put in your Reaktor Library, they get put wherever your installation path is set for Native Access products. And note that they aren't called Reaktor Blocks, just Blocks Primes and Blocks Base, so further up the list of installed products.

I honestly don't know, but this is what I'm hoping for. They know how huge the importance of Reaktor user library is.

Now, why Reaktor Player? Because when you install a Player product, the path to it is always stored in registry/plist, so Rack files can work nicely with relative paths that way (and important for DAW project recall, too). It would be quite problematic with regular non-Player stuff, which can be anywhere on your hard drive, plus you need to make sure that whoever you're sharing your Rack file to, has all the same ensembles, with the same filenames, AND the same internal structure... Too many variables there.

Ok so no automatic resizing of Reaktor on it's own, but it does resize when loaded in Komplete Kontrol. Problem there is that it adds extra space on the end that isn't used so when it goes off screen I actually can't resize it back get rid of the extra space. Why is it not contouring the window around it properly. And why isn't it resizing automatically in Reaktor (outside Komplete Kontrol).

Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation! Hopefully user blocks can be ported eventually. The blocks from NI are great but the user library just adds so much to blocks that it would be a shame if they were excluded from the new Rack system.

I wonder why they are locked... I really hope they are not thinking about having closed environment where you can't access some parts of the system :scared:

Wow, that sounds rather ominous. Thanks for the explanations EvilDragon!
I'm somehow not convinced by all the bolted on stuff NI builds into their tools to make them more "convenient" lately.
Reaktor always had one of the worst structures when it comes to presets and all the NKS stuff doesn't really convince me either (and it isn't the kind of eco system I personally want to be part of).
But this latest move sounds like it could lead to a kind of Apple-Store-Syndrome.
Only ze pait for ant approvet blocks are ze goot blocks...

Hm.

Cheers,

Tom

You guys know that they haven't removed the regular blocks functionality right? All the old blocks and blocks based ensembles still work, they just have this new system as well which is much simplified if you are someone who wants to patch together a bunch of blocks and not have to save in your host, or to save rack presets. I do hope that the new block format can be made by users as well so that the user library blocks can be converted to this format, and hopefully that's not hard and doesn't cost them money.

Yes it's a big deal , the fact that we can't correct this ourselves .
The adsr sample spike is pretty annoying , and the new format prevents us from fixing it
