Hello all you lovely peeps!
Now, that I've got the pleasantries out of the way, I grovel for your help!
I'm using Cubase SL2 on a PC with various vst instruments (Halion, Vanguard etc) and I want to use Automation. Now, before you say it - I HAVE checked the pdf guides for Cubase but as I'm a realtive novice (and a new user of the new style cubase) I find it hard to decipher the terminology and need it in 'lamens' terms!
I've assigned my M-Audio Radium 49 to the cc numbers needed i.e. filter cutoff etc but I can''t get them to work on my tracks. When i turn my knobs (oo-er) the corresponding knobs on the vsti don't move and obviously that means it's not affecting the sound either.
I've created (to my ears at least!!) a stormer of a trance/house tune but without some automation it sounds a bit lazy, know what I mean?
I know there's stuff in the preferences (in cubase) that I probably need to change but I'm weary of doing it because I wouldn't know 100% what I'm doing.
Could one of you helpful chaps (or chapesses) please help?
If there's other info you need in order to help me please ask! I know what I want to do and it's frustrating when it can't be done (due to my shoddy music/computer knowledge). I can't even get my head round the 'read' 'write' buttons and, in that, I am fundamentally flawed.
Cheers

I don't use SL2, but in SX2 the 'read' 'write' buttons you mention are the automation buttons. You should be able to expand the track boxes (little + signs) to see what they're reading and writing.
