Bet's on. Let's bet 29$ and see what price it is on June 16th.

$129 after voucher for me. LMAO.
That's okay. I still have no idea what this thing even sounds like.

well I played with the demo a lot....
FWIW, here's my opinion to throw on the pile here:
1. it's absurdly overpriced. I understand you PA-subscribers have your vouchers or whatever, I couldn't care less. I'm not signing up with PA, especially not after the Thorn debacle. The last thing I need is e-mails about random discounts / vouchers whatever. 249 for this thing? Absolute joke.
2. The sound quality of the synth itself is quite good. I mostly like what I hear this TMT or whatever doing. It sounds pretty rich and <cough> 'analog'.
3. The effects sound really bad to me. I would never use them if I owned this.
4. The level scaling on the OSC level knobs still really bothers me. I feel it should be more linear, like on the Arturia.
5. The presets are horrible, save a small handful. They are done by PluginGuru...he's a nice guy and all, but his stuff leans heavily toward modern sounds / EDM, which I think is a very poor fit for a retro 70s synth emulation....not sure why he was their pick. They all make WAY too much use of the effects, and have this brash in your face sound. It's just not appropriate for an SEM emulation.
6. You know what bugs me the most? the Arturia, which has inferior sound quality to this, nonetheless has the WONDERFUL per-voice modulation system, which allows all kinds of fun (and very Oberheimy, so to speak) control over the individual voices, including step-based changes to parameters (triggered by successive note triggers). It's the best part of the Aruria SEM, and something like that is sorely missing here. Without it, Oberhausen really feels "Just Another" good quality retro synth emulation...

Agreed on all counts. I can buy it for $24 with my vouchers. However I am going to hold off until the end of the month just in case something else comes up. I have all the synths I need at this point and there is no need to rush to get it. My demo period isn't up either.mholloway wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2019 7:28 pm well I played with the demo a lot....

More generally, something has gone "wrong" at PA. I can target it to just before Ulrich moved to the US. Not sure what the problem is, but the pre 2018 PA is not what it is now. At least they still have a strong contingent of fan bois on facebook to give them the illusion they are still doing a good job.
alas.....

Well, its on intro offer for $179. But as a "heavy hitter" I have an offer for $99. I also have a $75 monthly voucher. 99 - 75 = $24.Bennetto wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2019 7:53 pm how it is possible that you only pay 24$????? whih kind of voucher you have???
To be a heavy hitter you have to have, I think, 20+ PA plugins. To get the $75 voucher, I think, you have had to spend $500-600 in the previous 12 months with them.

I have a feeling, but don't quote me, that when PA works out the monthly voucher, they use the regular price to calculate your total, not your purchase price... I think. So this purchase might result in future higher monthly vouchers for you.Bennetto wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2019 8:04 pmah ok - thanks for the info - i bought it for 94,-$ incl taxes - i think its a good price for a good synth....plexuss wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2019 8:01 pmWell, its on intro offer for $179. If what I think is true, then it's also incentive to start being a regular PA customer... initally the costs will be higher but as buy more, the good deals start flowing.

Seriously?! You've been replying for pages and pages in this thread about your opinion on this synth and you haven't even tried it? That's some kind of talent you got there.wagtunes wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2019 6:15 pm $129 after voucher for me. LMAO.

Not only haven't I tried it, I haven't even listened to one video, demo or anything. Why? At this price, I wouldn't care if it sounded like Caruso on steroids. No way do I pay THAT kind of money for an Oberheim SEM.Raddler1 wrote: Wed Apr 17, 2019 3:17 pmSeriously?! So talent has nothing to do with it. It's just common sense when it comes to spending my hard earned money.

No, they calculate using actual money spent.plexuss wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2019 8:10 pmI have a feeling, but don't quote me, that when PA works out the monthly voucher, they use the regular price to calculate your total, not your purchase price... So, if you only use your voucher to pay for stuff each month, eventually you'll be set back to a lower voucher value or stop receiving them...

I'm a bit torn at the moment.
With that $50 intro voucher it now is in the price range i initially was ok with, but as this synth already is on intro pricing this very additional $50 voucher is actually silly, leaving a sour taste for me. Why not simply regular $129 intro pricing right from the start for everyone, even those who might not have stumbled upon these vouchers.
Of course i'm perfectly ok with heavy hitters getting a greater „discount“ as they've supported PA enough in the past.
Think i might hold on for a <$70 oppurtunity since as much as i seem to love the basic tone of a SEM, it is also quite a limited synth.
In the meanwhile i'll still have awesome stuff to have fun with and maybe there will even be another SEM inspired synth regarding oscillators and filters by that time, that doesn't simply take over the shortcomings of the original hardware just for the sake of being a faithful emulation (one may dream
)
Time will tell if i'm not as weak as i fear, failing resist and caving in in the last minute, as the basic tone is really great imo (that doesn't include it's effects section, but i'm ok with that)
