Instabuy. Tape and BBD modes are amazing.
Murderous duck!

Post

After comparing Echoboy and Valhalla Delay for a bit, on drums at least, these two delays sound nothing alike. In fact, in my limited experience, these are two of the more dissimilar delays I've heard, barring the more experimental delays out there.

I agree with you. Both are amazing

I'm getting -38 dB RMS of noise and looping rumble on the "Default" preset switched to BBD mode.
That's a single instance, on those specific settings, sitting alone in the entire project, nothing else.
Getting the same thing here. BBD mode can get very hairy with feedback. I think this is a bug too.
I'm seeing two different things here. If I insert the delay on a track with nothing else in the project and set the style to BBD with everything else default, RMS lands around -72.5 after 15 seconds or so. But if I adjust anything and go back to the Default setting through the plugin's preset browser, I'm seeing what you folks are.

That aside, this delay has way exceeded my expectations. Bought immediately. Thanks!

You obviously haven't tried Sandman Pro if you really believe this....
I have Sandman Pro. It's sometimes neat but it's not my favorite delay and not my favorite Unfiltered Audio plugin. I agree with lnikj.

Also as I mess with it more... this is probably going to be one of my favorite reverbs too.

I'll wait till the beta testing is done, then I'll probably get it.

I'm loving the micro pitching.

Sean. Well done.

This is incredibly versatile, while being very simple to use. That is no easy task.

@ATS... grab the demo. Its worthwhile seeing what can be done here.

If you have and use as many delays as I do, I think you'll actually enjoy seeing how its different, what it does better, what it doesn't do and where it is unique.

The thing that does it for me is that you have the different modes and more versatility than a generic delay or a straight 1:1 hardware emu, but you also have everything laid out for you in a way that makes it a breeze to program or tweak from scratch, or just turn knobs and see what happens.

Echoboy is deeper for sure but, and I say this as a long time user, I usually find myself sticking to the presets and types and not venturing into the bottom panel unless it’s to tweak spread and width. I have not had that problem playing around with ValhallaD today.

In that sense, it’s the same balance of versatility and ease of use that keeps bringing me back to Vintage and Plate. The streamlined workflow does it for me.

Bought it after work. Spent an hour with it.

IT FREAKING RULES.

hats off to Sean. Amazing delay plugin. My previous doubts have been washed away. This thing is flexible, powerful, deep, beautiful....

Instant buy here too. Reasons:
- Very clean easy to read interface
- Right amount of controls
- Superfast to dial in sounds
- Interesting tweaking parameters
- Low workload for good results

@mholloway - oh, but I have. I have all UA's plugins and everything Mike & Josh have released for other platforms. Sandman Pro is excellent, especially the modulation system, but it is easier to find sweet spots with this, the sound is modelled better and sounds warmer. I have plenty of ways of automating it externally - it will get the majority of its use hosted in VCVRack.

A wild thought: Considering Valhalla Delay has BBD and Tape modes among others, can it replace Echoboy, Colour Copy and Replika XT?

Tough question?

Color copy couldn't sound as noisy/dirty/rough as Valhalla Delay. VD can't sound as sweet as CC.
Murderous duck!
