It may be just me or my ears but Valhalla Delay sounds like some midside on some of presets compared to Echoboy

Post

Wow, almost 50 pages for a delay and so much fuzz around for the release...

Just to clarify it might be a nice delay, but this makes me think how some very underrated pluggins are quite forgotten, sometimes able to do way more and with more versatility and flexibility, and yet barely got the attention this is getting, or maybe never surpassed more than 5 pages on release.

Too much people love everything too easy and limited... Don't get me wrong it might be a nice delay.

Honestly I think a lot has to do with the way this dev does business. It appeals to a lot of people here.

windows demo download link doesn't work

edit: works now

Installed demo, can't find VST...... where on windows did you set the installation directory? :dog:

You should make your vst directory user editable, that will at least let me know where the VST is going by default. Or include it in the readme.

Edit: Ok, the 2.4 vst installation location is user editable. I'll just use that for now.

VST2 or VST3? We're changing the Windows installer in the next couple of days to make the VST paths follow the expected paths, along with a few bug fixes.

Currently, the VST3 installs to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\VST3 - this will change to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 as well as give you the option to specify your own directory if you'd like.

I've never heard a bad thing about Valhalla and their team. They must have a stellar customer service department. And their products are top notch with rave reviews from some of the top professionals in the audio industry. They also have some of the lowest prices for that type of quality. Which usually equals customer loyalty and a high customer return rate.

So i have played with this delay and also Replika XT and i did noticed something strange about timing, then i checked some other delays and this is what is strange. Replika XT is the only delay that has somehow wrong (or not?) timing in Dual mode. I set 1 delay at 1/8 and other 1/4, both straight. The end result is that timing doesnt sound the same as other delays with same settings, here is the download link for comparison. I know it doesnt pan as others, but even when playing around with pan/balance settings, switching from serial to parallel and the timing is somehow different. Can anyone elaborate what i did wrong and how should i configure Replika in Dual mode being 1/8 and other delay 1/4 to sound same as other delays?

How does this one compare to Waves H-Delay or EchoBoy?

Dual delays can either feed into each other (serial) or work independently (parallel). I'm guessing most delays have independent dual delay lines (I know this is true for Valhalla), while the default for Replika XT is Serial. Switch to Parallel (bottom right corner) and you should hear the same results as the others :)

No need. Every developer should be using the C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, that should be the default and unchangeable location. I think it will be the official standard moving forward.

Here's my contrib. You're welcome. You didn't say thanks? Too bad! YOU'RE WELCO... I SAID... f*** forget it.

Both plugins are using similar lush reverb sound. Room added an extra edge and lushness to the sound. But if I had to choose one plugin for reverb, I'd go with Delay. Really like the reverb sound it can produce.

No need. Every developer should be using the C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, that should be the default and unchangeable location. I think it will be the official standard moving forward.
That location is only writeable with admin permissions. You need to allow users to install plugins within their home directory as well.

Please, no options for where VST3 goes on Windows - just follow whatever the standard is so I don't risk messing anything up. ;-)

Also I'd like all your installers to remember where I install my Valhalla plugins on Windows, that is the custom path I entered the last time I installed a Valhalla plugin. No messing about with looking into the registry where some other company have automagically messed things up, and I certainly dare not edit the registry when most installers work well without me doing so.

Also 2: purchased and satisfied so far! Especially loving the Ghost and RevPitch modes. :wheee:

EVERY SINGLE PLUGIN USES IT - except maybe this one and one other.
