How good would you say this emulation is? There's is a YouTube video that suggests it's not good and there's a huge drop in volume when using this tube screamer emulation.

Have you heard Cytomic's The Scream? If you want an insanely good Tube Screamer (TS-808, TS-9, Boss SD-1) emulation, that's the one. Eats quite a bit of CPU at the moment, but an update will eventually hit with an MD mode that will reduce that. It's not free, but not expensive.

I've demoed the Hornet TS9 and it sounds pretty darn good. Good price too. No issues with it's sound whatsoever. A unique little model.

Like many other saturation plugins on some sources it fits nicely on others not so much. I have a dozen plugin pedals that I try to match on various amps and this one works well sometimes. The HDS-1 also works sometimes.

My favorites and the one that works best most of the time for me are Kazrog pedals. But I work with high gain mostly.

Other pedals I use are freebies from TSE and Ignite Amps, Plugin alliance pedals (that rarely works for me).

As I wrote in the comments of the video itself, we have probably used different internal reference point regarding the conversion between voltages and dBs... I asked for the original files so I can understand where the problem is!
