They are anyway so different. While some things can be similar they offers all something unique to me.
Neither can "replace" the other for me.
Replika XT still has for me the biggest sound (if that makes sense) but Valhalla Delay has some tricks Replika XT cannot do (and vice versa of course).
Since i payed for both just 50 each i´m quite happy.
Also using Valhalla and Replika combined is wonderful as well.

I tell you, if that would happen for everyone, we would see a 50% reduction of posts on KVR...

Finally this thread has accumulated most of the ingredients a decent KVR-thread needs, unfortunately VDelay doesn't need iLok so that vital ingredient will be missing for good.

Not attacking you: but legitimately curious as to why and where (if specific to any sources)? Is it specifically a sound thing, the feature set, or both? I only have the regular Replika, but if XT really does great things, maybe I should look at it too.
Love ValhallaDelay so far. Never created so many presets in a plugin in such a short period of time. It has a TON of character though, which I could see being a bit heavy-handed some of the time. That said, if there's stuff that ReplikaXT does better or differently enough (I know it has ducking for instance), maybe I should look at that too.

I didn't A/B Replika and VDelay, but... the sound of Replika is really crystal clear, and pristine. Not in the meaning that it just does a 1:1 copy of the signal (which sucks... try Hy-Delay, and you know why...), but, it just sounds very hi-fi. Especially audible when you try the Diffusion mode, which surely competes with some of the best reverbs.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 6:35 pmNot attacking you: but legitimately curious as to why and where (if specific to any sources)? That said, i found nothing wrong with the sound of VDelay, though. But, IMO, when it comes to sound, Replika XT is definitely the one to beat.

Its not overloaded with every little scientific engineering feature (there's other delays for that) so that plus the GUI/workflow makes for easy preset creation/editing/morphing on top of having some different sonic character with the different modes (there's plenty of plain sounding easy to use digital and often free delays that do this, so use those if that's what you want). Why you complaining that this one doesn't sound like an ordinary copacetic delay?
Would love to see parameter lock for all parameters though. This would speed up creation and variation of presets.

The sound is different eg. with the analog model. ReplikaXT sounds very smooth and very well mixed with the source ("glued" together). Valhalla sounds more "on top" of the source signal. This is very easy to listen, with both delays on the same source.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2019 6:35 pmNot attacking you: but legitimately curious as to why and where (if specific to any sources)? It seems a bit that ReplikaXT with the analog model smoothes a bit the transients or has some additional internal filtering/distortion/oversampling thing. The price which must be paid is of course the CPU consumption.
I think the strength of the ValhallaDelay is more the clean GUI and the limited parameter set in combination with a lot of types/models and a great sound (not speaking about the small price)
But ReplikaXT sounds different.. for my taste better
