Well, if you mean user customization, at the REAPER level, that could be cool...
but unlikely!

I think the OP means something scaled larger, and I agree. I don’t want them to replace the existing designs, just scale them up. If that means they have to recreate the bitmaps from scratch, so be it... just stick to the same design. What I don’t want is flat minimalist fad bullshit as a “new GUI design”.

I dunno. I have a 27" screen. It's fine. I tried a 32" screen (with cubase) and it sucked. I'm totally ignorant on the subject but I thought the OP was kinda joking and was just playing along (or I guess notJace-BeOS wrote: Sat Apr 27, 2019 4:32 am I think the OP means something scaled larger, and I agree. I'm curious what you mean? Just upscaling the GUI to make it look sharper on 4K / HiDPI screens, add GPU acceleration and ideally native scaling (like Live or Bitwig)? Or a complete overhaul of the whole User Interface, including the look of devices, etc?
I have little faith in the former, at least for v11; while the latter is simply impossible (nor would I want it).

Well, actually I think a new look for devices would be pretty cool!
Surely bigger, clearer fonts & knobs would be welcome. And some kind of support for high res monitors is gonna be necessary.

Agreed. Everything ought to be bigger. But there are some lovely modern (flat) plugs around nowadays, with very clear fonts & graphics. I'm pretty open minded, and I also like the 3D look.Jace-BeOS wrote: Sat Apr 27, 2019 4:32 am I think the OP means something scaled larger, and I agree. Would you agree that some of the devices look a little stale?
Compare that with some newer Rack Extensions & Europa to see what I mean.

Well, nice of you to play! This whole Reason GUI thing is kinda an ongoing topic around here.reggie1979 wrote: Sat Apr 27, 2019 5:15 am but I thought the OP was kinda joking and was just playing along (or I guess not)

I wish I understood the whole "scaling" thing but I don't.
Frankly, I'm for any and all improvements

The latter is not impossible, it just takes effort (FL Studio chose to do that effort, for example!). However it would also require all REs to be updated in the same way (but IIRC they are all vector-based, so that shouldn't be a huge issue?), so it would also take coordinated effort.antic604 wrote: Sat Apr 27, 2019 5:37 amI'm curious what you mean? So, not impossible, but rather improbable.

"If Propellerheadz ain't work'n on a new GUI, well then..."
Then they're probably working on higher priority issues and features. I don't think the demand and need for 4k resolutions has reached critical mass yet. I don't think they've even reached a bleep on the radar for 90% of the user community.
But, it could help revive their dwindling user base by drawing in a niche part of the market.

Mathias at Propellerhead recently posted that Reason 10 has been the best-selling Reason of all time. And he's the Lead Product Manager at Props themselves. Whereas you are asserting that Reason has a "dwindling user base". Let me guess where you got your information from: was it from, let's see, nowhere? Yeah, thought so.rewrite history wrote: Mon Apr 29, 2019 3:11 pm
