raynald@arturia wrote: Mon Apr 29, 2019 7:56 am We could process a voice as long as you instanciate your SynthiV, but we didn't because:

- As all our instruments are also used in AnalogLab, it would mean that some presets of the SynthiV could make sound as long as you load it, without typing any keys.
- Processing a voice costs CPU, and a lot of people don't want to see their CPU consumption rising after instanciating plugin into their DAW without playing a note, and won't understand why it is consuming CPU whereas it is making no sound... Imagine you have just loaded your project into your DAW and all your synthis are processing and consuming CPU...

We have to make choice because VSTs don't have the same using constraints as original hardware.
This makes perfect sense to me. And it looks like once you trigger a voice, it all works as you'd expect and you can patch up a drone. It also seems to respect stop/play in Ableton, so long notes are stopped when you stop Ableton :tu:
mfc83 ? Do you really understand that with such specificity, if you made some drone patch that can produce sound without keyboard, and especially if you will use more than single instance of synthi in project, you will not to get sound after re-load project, and will need be produce note-trig for each of instances separately for start sound again. It's comfortable ?

i realy like the 2 new synths, they sound good, but i think I can wait till v8 will be reduced to 99. I've already to much synths :)

Until we not change preset or press to panic button. So what's the benefit of such method saving of cpu usage, i do not quite find.
You're right, once the voice is processing, a note off is not a valid condition to stop processing voice (the patch could not use the envelop, or env can be cycling too). So once a voice is processing, it always processes until you receive a MIDI stop, as mfc83 noticed.
c_voltage wrote: Mon Apr 29, 2019 9:16 amOk, in the end, it could be done optionally, like switching between two modes in plugin settings, for further permanent use. For those whom is important the correctly working matrix, and for those who really see some problem in such instant generating. That would be a great universal solution.
This is interesting and will be suggested. Moreover it remains a problem : if we always process for these patches and we keep the "Panic->Stop Processing" (or "MIDI Stop->Stop Processing"), when should we process back after a Panic?

Anyway, that's why we've chosen the note-on to process solution, and that's why it is not an easy thing to adapt hardware to software, especially when it is host into a DAW. We had to make a choice, and we decided that it was a fewer problem to create a midi clip at start of a song instead of having a crazy unstoppable analog lab when loading synthi presets or an unpanicable synthesizer.

You could have a processing button/led which could be initialized by a choice saved to the patch... A panic would require to switch it back on, or play a note...

Raynald, Ie you quite seriously suggest using midi clips to matrix become working?
I have not seen such method in any of the virtual Synthi implementation yet.
Sorry but all this rather near to a bit wrong implementation in programming (exactly in this, generators activity aspect, only), than necessary sacrifice for ease of use in a DAW.

Added: Forgive me for maybe a bit harsh statements. This is nothing more than emotion when you like the tool itself, but everything spoils one crooked solution.

Will Arturia be offering an fx version of Synthi? That's a huge part of what a Synthi is good for IMO.
That's not in our short term plan but who knows :)

@ Kevin[Arturia]
I find the import samples feature in Mellotron V really great and a short test gave me already very nice results but would you mind to explain the reasons behind:
1. Limiting the user samples to 8 per track?
2. Fixing a minimum mapping range of 3 semitones per sample?
This limitation does not allow one sample per semitone as the original Mellotron Tapes.

Well, I suspect the synths probably are worth $66 bucks each 'if' you were going to buy all 3 of them anyway.....the problem (if you can call it a problem) for all of us V6 owners is we know that all we have to do is wait a few months and it will be $99 which pushes it to a much sweeter deal.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Yeah, at just $66 per item, its not a bad deal if you really need access to them. As a recently converted V6 owner, I have synths and options for sounds coming out of my ears so I am in no big rush to get more. I have yet to go through all the stuff in the V6 collection.

Yes for me it makes sense, because it fits with how I use my DAW to make music. But I can see that this is different to how you use your DAW, so please take my opinion as something based on the way I work, and not me trying to say you should work differently.

Providing the option to switch between the two modes makes sense.

That's a shame, because it really would be a great fx processor. Spring reverb, great filter, ring mod, feedback, insane modulation options...
