Layering Synth Sounds

This is so easy to achieve in Omnisphere with CC control and Stack mode. I put a little video together explaining how to do this kind of morphing -

that's cool.

but as were in the getting started section, i was thinking more using free or cheap tools. sadly there its a little more work

not a great deal though, as i said its volume fades mainly, as well as choosing the right patches, and using your reverb and maybe some eq to sit them in the same space.
