VST3 support

More important would be a list of VST3 plug-ins which implement expressions. I have the feeling its only Steinberg which does. A VST2 wrapped as VST3 is a waist of potential.
For hosts its not the question if they load VST3, also if they support expressions. Bitwig certainly does...

Any widely used DAW would have implemented VST3 support by now.
My solo projects:
Hekkräiser (experimental) | MFG38 (electronic/soundtrack) | The Santtu Pesonen Project (metal/prog)

I think ableton is the last one .. vst3 support is in late beta now and hopefully 10.1 will drop soon.

Actually in Cubendo VST 2.4 instruments may use Note Expression.Tj Shredder wrote: Sun May 05, 2019 6:49 am More important would be a list of VST3 plug-ins which implement expressions. I have the feeling its only Steinberg which does. A VST2 wrapped as VST3 is a waist of potential.

I've never actually used a VST3 instrument for MPE, it's been the ROLI Equator, hosted in VE Pro which doesn't host VST3.
Here it is using Kontakt (it's 'Bowed Chamber Bowls' from Glassworks by SonicCouture): (you can see this is at the same time)
The lower note has a pitch bend move, there it is; the higher notes doesn't. And that's what is heard, it just works.
I used to see that factoid stated and I believed it, 'it's the VST 3.5 protocol so VST2 won't do it', but it's not actually true.

So: "VST3 plug-ins which implement expressions" might be a red herring. I don't know that this instrument is supposed to do anything specifically, but Note Expressions works. OTOH Equator implements specifically: Glide from its controllers = Pitch Bend; Slide control = CC74; Pressure control = simple aftertouch all in the Note Expressions window; then Lift control = Note Off velocity. So this Kontakt instrument isn't, and very few instruments are going to do the same magic from Glide (and aren't likely to do much with Lift before you get in there and make it do, perhaps via scripting, and aftertouch is still relatively exotic), although you do get pitch bend unavoidably really from the controller. I did the pitch bend from a regular pitch bend wheel there.
