On a side-note. I personally passionately hate all the terms millennials use these days; Content create, influencer, and maker. I hate it when younger people refer to my "songs" as "content"... all those cringy terms just make me think of some attention desperate 20 year (male or female of course) old putting out make-up tutorials shot (badly) and edited (badly) on an i-phone... GET OFF MY LAWN!!! :x
i enjoyed the content of your post.
could create some influence.

The most I could ever bring myself to claim was 'a musicalist' or 'audio gamer'. I'm fully aware I'm just lurking in a back bedroom stringing audible objects together in an abstract mental space. Nobody GAF. Which is totally fair because I rarely GAF about most of the noodlings the world hurls at me from its cage - I can create my own barely-adequate posturings.

I made a face at my wife - I'm an actor now! I glued pieces of a magazine onto poster board - you may call me a renaissance artist. btw, I'm completely serious about the lawn. Get off it.

i dont even own a lawn.

haha!

I don’t have a problem with this term in the English sense of word. If I made something then I produced it

What are the alternatives? I’m certainly no musician.

Though I guess the argument surrounds those who define their profession as a producer.

Would you recommend the orange or apple? You said you’re a pro juicer right?

Well, if someone produces music they are a music producer, the same as someone who grows potatoes is a potato producer.

Are you a conservative by any chance ?

I take the term producer, in relation to the music business, to recognise the specific talent and skill the historic term means, that is someone who sits in the big chair in the control room and makes the mundane in to a hit - The turd polisher, if you will.

Having access to professional tools, perhaps illegally downloaded, used by people who don't really understand them is akin to me having a snap on socket set and being able to change the oil, filters and brakes on a car, it certainly doesn't make me a mechanic.

Ok valid points and I agree on all.

However I’m not aware of a better choice of word. Suggest one and I’ll most likely agree with you.
