This is definitely true. Which is why the innovations that I'm most interested in are in materials science: innovations that allow better and better transducer devices (i.e. speakers and microphones) to be manufactured at lower prices. That's the part of the recording/mixing chain that has seen the least 'democratization'.LawrenceF wrote: Tue Apr 09, 2019 1:10 pm As relates to putting up a bunch of mics and recording multiple sources, there's not much left to do except improving that workflow by copying some of the best parts of PT, Ardour and some others who focused in on that.
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good cheap microphones available. And speaker systems with active crossovers have also been getting cheaper. But there are still many classic microphone designs that are prohibitively expensive for anyone who doesn't record Justin Bieber for a living.

The thing that's mysterious about Iggy Pop isnt his existence, but his extremely slow aging. I think he's found the secrets of Elizabeth Bathory's legendary eternal-youth-through-virgin's-blood techniques.vurt wrote: Wed May 01, 2019 1:03 pm ps: brexit has been reclassified a cryptic, alongside nessie, yetis and iggy pop.
What this has to do with Brexit I don't know, but I understand that you brits can be a bit obsessive.

You're right! That is much more plausible than using the blood of virgins. Virgins are expensive, even more expensive than a Telefunken U47.
Its good cover too: who would guess that Super soldier serum would be used on a counter-culture figure like Iggy Pop.
Who? VURT, that's who! All those expensive cloak and dagger methods stand not a chance against the piercing insights of kvr's own idiot-savant.

He must have gotten it from Hugh Laurie when he was over here making "House".

I think the same.pekbro wrote: Mon Apr 08, 2019 9:43 am In 10 years there will be no music left in the world as every single recorded note will trigger a copyright takedown.
In the last few years music "creation" has become so mainstream that a good majority of the listeners are those who are actually creating music by themselves or have some knowledge in music and trends related to it. This is especially true for the newer artists, not for the established ones. I mean there are no so many sounds/timbres/effects possible which a common listener won't even appreciate, forget like. Music creation has transcended a conventional approach of audio recording people used to be familiar with.
