What i was saying was that the SynthEdit environment is baked into the exported DLLs. If it werent, nothing would happen, so yes, you do need SE, but unlike Reaktor you do not need to have the editing environment installed as a separate application which then hosts your creations in the DAW.toonertik wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 10:04 amAnd so you don't need "synthedit" installed on your PC..ENV1 wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 9:50 amActually you do, but since it is all being 'baked' right into the exported DLLs it is much less of an issue than in the Reaktor case where nothing goes unless you have the 'editor' (i.e. Reaktor itself) installed.
A bit like saying you don't need a c++ compiler and associated libraries installed to run c++ VSTs...
However you need reactor to run ensambles or what ever they are called.
Thats what i meant.

Does this have a ZDF filter then? Not bad if so, people wanted a poly synth with similar sound quality to Monark.

But you will need the correct visual C++ runtime libraries installed.toonertik wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 12:18 pm And so you don't need synthedit installed...

In both cases.

Yes, ofc...whyterabbyt wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 12:30 pmBut you will need the correct visual C++ runtime libraries installed.toonertik wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 12:18 pm And so you don't need synthedit installed...

In both cases.
But not the development environment.. ie "synthedit" or , say "visual studio" and all that comes with that.

you'll also need a computer, which will need switching on. once you've made sure you have power of course.toonertik wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 12:34 pmYes, ofc...whyterabbyt wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 12:30 pmBut you will need the correct visual C++ runtime libraries installed.toonertik wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 12:18 pm And so you don't need synthedit installed...

so you'll probably need somewhere to live, to plug it in. you might need to eat ocassionally too so you dont die, then theres washing and ablutions.
too much hassle just for a poly synth. just kill me now.

So, this is analogous, then, ie you dont need the evelopment environment, Reaktor, because the Reaktor Player is your runtime environment.toonertik wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 12:34 pmYes, ofc...whyterabbyt wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 12:30 pmBut you will need the correct visual C++ runtime libraries installed.toonertik wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 12:18 pm And so you don't need synthedit installed...

Go on then; if you try really hard, maybe everyone will suddenly agree with you. Wont that be nice?ENV1 wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 12:42 pmVery good.toonertik wrote: And so you don't need synthedit installed...
Anyone else, if its still unclear i can say it a 3rd time.

I doubt 3 times is enough, especially if its not a fact. If you have 15 synthedit plug-ins installed, you might have also a synthedit player installed 15 times without being told... For sure Reaktor or its player is installed only one time and you know it for all your Reaktor based synths...ENV1 wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 12:42 pmVery good.toonertik wrote: And so you don't need synthedit installed...

Just to belabor a point there is a difference between not wanting to install Reaktor Player and not wanting to install Reaktor Player just for Super 8.
I have the player installed on this system and just don't see any need or desire to have it installed on my studio computer. However that could change in the next five minutes if N.I. were to release something that I need or want.
My point is that Super 8 requires a fair bit of fluff and blubber to function but doesn't appeal to me as much as some freeware synths such as Tyrell N6 or what the heck I'll say it...Synth 1.
"Super 8 does nothing for me" does not equal "I hate N.I." It's entirely possible to like a company but not like all of their products. With so many synths in my folder from Alchemy to Z3TA+2, Super 8 simply doesn't do anything new or do anything better than what I already have....no hate just no desire....
