Missing out on what?? Another subtractive softsynth of which I have a dozen already that can do the same basic sounds?

I meant with Reaktor as a whole, not specifically just Super 8. Reaktor is an excellent toolbox that offers a great selection of sound mangling tools that covers a very very broad range of synthesis algorithms and DSP applications. If anything i think tools like Reaktor and Max complement great plugins like Zebra and others.
pdxindy wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 3:37 am I have so much amazing synthesis at hand, that at this point any new synth is going to have to be something exceptional or even above exceptional for me to consider it or even bother to install a demo. For me, this does not approach exceptional.
I guess it depends on what you want. If you're happy with what you have that's great :) just stick with it.

Super-8 sounds nice to me, i like how easy it is to use and I think it's worth getting when I want to just get a nice VA tone quickly.

not unpleasant, certainly nicer than youd imagine.

Just watching a couple of YouTube videos, and this is actually a very impressive VA synth that is a steal for $69. As far as I can tell, NI put a lot of effort into both the sound, and the 350 presets, which all seem very useful. I’m not saying I won’t pick this up at some point but, I probably won’t right now. I just bought the FabFilter One and Twins for a really good price, and Oberhausen like 2 weeks ago. Anybody who owns Diva or RePro (me, for example) really wouldn’t need Super 8. However, if I was just starting to look at VA synths and didn’t want to spend Diva money, I could probably get by with Super 8 for a while.

That's a bold statement, do you think it really is on par with repro/diva? I'm still uncertain.

maybe a little jasmine, a little patchouli.
not as swampy as you might think from appearance.

I don’t know if it is exactly on par. I just had about 4 YouTube videos of Super 8 in the background. I’d have to download it, and I don’t plan on doing that. Diva being what it is (a Frankenstein of classic synths) covers a lot of ground, and the effects alone of RePro makes it worth the price of admission but, Super 8 is a $69 synth that sounds that good (on YouTube) and has a really straight forward interface. It does a pretty good job of making a wide variety of Poly sounds without sounding exactly like any one particular emulation. Would this have kept me from buying Diva a couple of years ago? I don’t know but, I would have put it off for a little while.

Indeed. This harkens back to Pro-53 days (the filter in Super 8 is actually a refreshed emulation of Prophet-5 Rev 3 that's in NI offices, which was the same one used while creating Pro-53 back in the day).

So this is sort of a mix between Prophet 5 and Alpha Juno in some way (due to certain waveshapes possible in the oscillator).

Hmm but hang on Super 8 includes a high pass and a bandpass filter so how can this be based on a Prophet 5? The Prophet only had a low pass filter (4 pole).

That said the synth sounds rather nice actually.
