And you know what? That is totally cool! Back when I was desperately broke, I used to feed my GAS with the Reaktor User Library. Whenever I got bored, I would just go there, and it was almost like getting a brand new plugin. There are some great builders up there, and I am happy to let them do the heavy liftingchk071 wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 7:23 pm I really can't say anything bad about Reaktor. Except for the fact that i probably will never find the time and inclination for diving deeper into it than to view the top structures.
As others have mentioned, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities.

There's dozens of other synths that'd perfectly fit this bill aswell, some of them even freeware, which i would recommend students first, before making them buy anything.
I'd rather ask, why these 2 synths specifically?
I'd of course ask the same question if other synths from different developrs were praised as basically the only worthwhile contenders

Wrong as in what i said is not true?AnX wrote: not chinese, just wrong.
Well, try this then:
Take any SE project file, rename its extension to .dll, drag it into your host and see what happens.
Then export your project file as a VST DLL (as you normally would) and do the same with that.
Let me know which one you like better. The one with SE in it or the one without.
My guess: The DLL with SE in it will quickly become your No.1 favorite simply because a plugin that actually works is orders of magnitude more interesting than the depressing sound of an error popup and/or the saddening view of a host crashing to the desktop. After that we can gladly talk some more about whether SE is needed or not, but i dont think it will be necessary.

i have no idea what you are talking about
if i make a vst in SE, and give it to you, you do not have to install SE, nor is it installed for for you.
which part of that dont you understand?

Do you guys think all these Super 8 sonic features will be included in MX (basically, will MX be able to replicate S8 sounds)?

And BTW, I hated that you cannot use delay+chorus in this synth. But I think the FX section is "crippled" on purpose, as to not compete with MX down the road.

I was thinking about that, earlier. A while back there was soft-synth that was also a self-contained synth tutorial program (Can't remember it's name). Might have been a good way to make this hard-to-miss, for many folk

The question, and im saying this in the most respectful manner possible, is what part you dont understand because thats exactly what ive been saying the whole time.AnX wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 8:06 pm i have no idea what you are talking about

You dont need to have SE installed in order to run/use a SE plugin.
But the plugin, to actually BE a functioning plugin, needs SE which is why it is part of the DLL.
And its obvious too. How else could the plugin even function? How could it process sound and display an UI? The plugin is SE and SE is the plugin. Your project is to SE what a preset is to a synth, so in order to have it all working SE obviously has to be there to interpret it. Thats not so hard to understand?

Hive doesn't have oscillator or filter FM, or ringmod, or hardsync, which are kinda basic synthesis concepts.
No, they're completely different and unrelated products.Sinisterbr wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 8:08 pm Do you guys think all these Super 8 sonic features will be included in MX (basically, will MX be able to replicate S8 sounds)?

I always had the idea to make a trancegate effect with it, with a fancy GUI, a nice layout, and everything i'd need from such a effect, because i can't for the life of me find a trancegate which has everything i want to have, and packs it into a nice usable interface (Polyverse Gatekeeper is the closest). I guess, like many of my "great ideas", it will never be realized, though.vurt wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 7:30 pmluckily theres a load of nerds who do go deeper and they share their sometimes amazing creationschk071 wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 7:23 pm I really can't say anything bad about Reaktor. there is nothing bad that can be said about reaktor, not that is true or worthwhile anyway.

Seems like any other generic sounding and unexciting synth... however, there's of plenty other synths to explore you can find for free.... as I've listed here. There are some real gems to discover... viewtopic.php?f=1&t=504517

I have warmed up to the new Reaktor Racks... it is easier to work with than Blocks... At first it just seemed like yet another layer of complexity, which in a way it is, but since it allows me to ignore Blocks, it works out to require less mental space to use than before.chk071 wrote: Sat May 04, 2019 7:23 pm I really can't say anything bad about Reaktor. I have no interest in opening up a whole new world of possibilities. I could spend the rest of my life and not fully explore the world of possibilities I already have. When I recently bought a new audio computer, I only installed about half of what was on my old one. Even with half, what is possible is limitless in any practical sense.
