No. That's not how Komplete works. You get what's in the current version at the time of release. It might be somewhere in Komplete 13, where though, is anyone's guess, particularly now that it's a three (really four, or even five?) tier system.

Thats the strategy, the timing of NI is the proof. They promised MX for K12 and had some other improvements like Kontakt 6. For me there was no need at all to upgrade, I guess for others its the same. They offer new instruments to be sold first as such, and collect them for a future upgrade to make the upgrade more attractive... It all makes sense. Those who can’t wait and want S8 buy it now. They can use it already, if they upgrade their Komplete they can sell it again, which is in a synths life its adult phase. Initial sales have declined already, the second hand market does not hurt too much...

Interesting, i am sure i tried this before. Okay it's a 4pole.
But how do you see a connection to Pro-53?
To me, the whole synth sounds a lot like (early/mid eighties) Roland....

What synth plugins could Super 8 possibly replace from sound and easy of use aspects?

Okay. I am loving the audio demos on the NI website. Super 8 is a great sounding synth.

I don't think new things will necessarily simplify our setups.
If you are not happy with your current setup, only have „convoluted super synths“ and/or you think Super 8 or any other new kid on the block will be essentially better/nicer/quicker than what you have, you might be in for a „simple but awesome sounding synth“.
If you already have a few in that category, you don't even have think about new additions.
Sometimes ignorance is bliss, trying to fetch every awesome synth will just lead to hoarding, as we're long spoiled for choices and we're talking about nuances here as pretty much any more or less capable synth from the past decade can give you awesome results.
It's more about personal preferences really. Just because Repro, Monark, or The Legend might very well be the most authentic analog emulations to date (i haven't checked though and i also really don't care that much- if it sounds good to me, it just sounds good to me, no matter if it's an ancient analog, unabrashed digital, or something inbetween), one can prefer other synths. Both sound and workflow wise. At least i prefer others and never owned these.
They might of course be the ones you have been waiting for all this time. Same applies to others, like this new Super 8.
But relying on suggestions from others will only lead to purchases that might not have been necessary at all, as almost anything from the past decade (sometimes even way longer) can give awesome results, that might even be better for certain sounds than the most capable new stuff.
Top hits have been made using toy/cheap-ish gear, but this doesn't mean they would have sounded better, if only state of the art >$10.000 equipment had been used, it has been just the right sound for the job that technically more advanced stuff maybe couldn't replicate as well or required lots of work to come in the same ballpark.
TL;DR:
buy the synth you think is for you after enough demoing, because at first, almost any new thing appears to be teh best thing ev0r.

You have to know the strengths and weakness of your VST plugins, than it's not really necessary to have a minimal setup.
I also separate between my standard synth plugins that i use regularly to make music (that's not many), and synth plugins that i use for inspiration, sound experiments, or for personal pleasure....

Define „minimal“.
It's also not necessary to have thousands, hundreds, or „just“ dozens of plugins that more or less do the same.
Of course having a nice selection, even some just for inspiration is a nice plus, but as literally everything released in the past decade can be considered essential or THAT synth for someone, or even the large majority, doesn't mean it will be THAT synth for you aswell.
If you simply followed all these advices, you would literally own thousands of plugins capable of awesome results.
So you still have to demo yourself to see wether you need it, or not
