Konrad „Conny“ Plank (1940–1987), produced in his sound studio names like
Kraftwerk, Scorpions, Brian Eno, DAF, Ultravox, Eurythmics, Devo ...
receives an appreciation on German TV Arte, 21:45.

I had the honor once to see doing his magic in Berlins Hansa Studios. He made a flanging effect by hand, copying the track to another tape, and controlling the tape speed of the 2-track like later dj’s would do it with records and flying it back to the multitrack. One take and it was perfect! No vst, no outboard gear, just the master...

I am not sure what was on Arte but I searched and found this documentary Conny Plank – The Potential of Noise which I watched on Amazon. It has some great interviews with artists but it has lots of slow moving parts with Conny's son Stephan traveling around trying to figure out who his father was. Conny died when Stephan was only 13 and was a bit of an elusive character.

The documentary was made by his son... Its available on the arte mediathek:
