Cubase 10 ran rather well on mine. I've never used another DAW really (I had Logic 8, for VE Pro it's a serious waste of time) and I've been on Mac since early 2006.

When was the most recent usage for you? This is kind of an old hoary trope and pretty much deprecated today. I've had both DP and Logic. Again, if you want to have a hard life, Logic with VE Pro is the ticket. Also, not everybody's system is as broke-ass as yours maybe.Dewdman42 wrote: Wed May 08, 2019 10:50 pmNot true
Cubase is well known to have very poor performance on Mac. If you don’t believe me then buy it and cry later when you run back to dp or logicpro

totally not so... I have been testing Cubase10 and Logic Pro heavily with VEP this week and LogicPro is using literally half the cpu for exactly the same tracks playing.. Cubase runs like crap on mac..sorry, but that's the truth. Its a nice DAW otherwise. I'm not the only one to say that. peace.

and by the way there is nothing broke about my system... Sorry if this offends you that I say cubase performance sucks on a mac, but my point is not intended towards you or anyone.. it is what it is...

of course its offensive. How could it not be? You sir are a cad and have deeply offended me. I challenge you to a duel. Now if you would be so kind as to locate a glove and slap yourself roughly in the face, I think that's the formailities complete.Dewdman42 wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 5:02 am Sorry if this offends you that I say cubase performance sucks on a mac

Not offensive at all. It's good to hear different end user experiences. I am debating jumping on the deal as I have been considering upgrading the DAW on my setup.Dewdman42 wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 5:02 am and by the way there is nothing broke about my system... I think now the big question here is, will other DAW vendors respond to Steinberg's marketing push with their own to keep customers from jumping ship.

Could it be that it has to do with those Mac specific T2 issues?
TBH, i have a hard time believing it is Cubase specific, because so many people running Cubase run Macs.

i've found that 99% of issues i've had with Cubase are down to 3rd party plugins.

Anyone, does Cubase require mandatory use of one of their UR audio cards? Keep seeing them in lots of Cubase related videos and I have no experience with this daw. However I'm tempted AF to grab the current offer.
In my setup I'd use it with O Deus ASIO Link Pro and a Native Instruments sound card. Would that work?

Does anybody know if the crossgrade version comes with any restrictions on resale similar to those that EDU versions have (e.g. new owner has to also have a valid crossgrade product to be eligible) or is it treated like a full unrestricted Pro version once purchased?
I can't find any reference to this on their forums

Cubase doesn't require Steinberg hardware to run.sircuit wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 12:13 pm Anyone, does Cubase require mandatory use of one of their UR audio cards? I'm just saying that you have an individual experience and that logically, saying 'runs like crap is the truth' like it's universal truth doesn't really work.Dewdman42 wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 5:00 am totally not so... Since I've been using it for 13 years, I have an experience as well. For some time, the latency was rather poor in comparison. It got better. It is running rather well here (not being someone that looks at CPU readouts frequently, I'm not usually tapping even all 6 cores in rather heavy projects when I do) and I wouldn't be into using the workarounds for Logic, which with AU3 are apparently a less torturous workaround.

Cubase doesn't run if you don't attach a specific piece of hardware to your computer. So of course it requires Steinberg hardware to run.
