There....convinced myself for the next half hour at least... :help:
Don't forget that you will have to most likely upgrade for $99 (I think) in November to 10.5! Maybe that will buy you another half hour. Anyway good luck resisting the tempation, I gave in and grabbed Cubase. I demoed it for a few days and was actually quite impressed with the Midi editing capabilities. Even if I only use it as a (fancy?) midi editor it will be worth it ;)
i think .5 updates are cheaper, someone correct me if i am wrong; €49. if you go from 10 to 10.5.

and updates/upgrades are 50% now, but that is always, but later in the year, july/august, a sale periode for the updates. i do not if it involves upgrades...

So if I buy it from a major reseller and register it with Steinberg in December say will I automatically get 10.5 due to their grace period?

No need to know about Grace Period if you didn't activate the license yet.

So is that a Yes or a No?

That date that counts is the day you put the activation code into the eLicenser Control Center. If that date falls into the grace period, you will get a free upgrade. However, you obviously cannot use the software until then, because in order to use it you need to have the license activated in the eLicenser Control Center.

.5 version upgrades are usually 49 Euro or USD, full version upgrades are 99. Steinberg has been fairly consistent with the upgrades. The next .5 upgrade is due at the end of this year, the next full version upgrade at the end of 2020. However, now that they have Nuendo and Cubase on the same version, there is a small chance that they might make changes to their upgrade cycles.

Hm.. so, just to confirm, if we take advantage of this offer and just buy it but sit on the software, meaning leave it in your account and not register or activate or use it, and wait until Sept or whenever the grace period start, we will get the 10.5 for free?

But you don’t know when the grace period starts until the announcement which might be in December...

It's interesting they are also doing this "competitive crossgrade" option.
It seems if I have FL Studio Producer Edition, I can crossgrade to Cubase Pro at a lower price...
On the other hand, having Reaper and FL Studio I don't feel the need to try another daw, this two covers everything (in my case).

yes. FL Studio Prod is valid for cross grade. You still need to buy the dongle though.

It dont matter to me. i would rather sit on it and get whatever they have fixed in 10.5 for free than pay extra for it.

The .5 version upgrades are not necessarily bug fix upgrades. They do have smaller upgrades in between for bug fixing.

Trialed Elements, workflow gelled instantly, everything worked as I expected, 192k 64 bit test smooth as can be, advanced setup was easy. Looked at what a $200 (including the key) crossgrade from Reason would get me... insta buy.
Have you tried Vital?
