jacqueslacouth wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 12:25 am Hmmm, so I thought I might just have a look at Cubase (Artist 9) again as this seems like such a good deal. Well, maybe not for me...can't even get the effing thing to open on my iMac. It actually seizes the whole computer, so does the Steinberg Download Assistant. Now, no such problem with Logic, Studio One 4, Reason 10 and Ableton Live 9. I will see if a clean install of Cubase makes a difference, but I am not holding out much hope...ah well
There might be something wrong with your machine. I am using it on a cira 2009 Mac Mini. Works fine. Perhaps try 9.5. also, try removing the assistant and reinstalling.

Anyways, FWIW, it seems C 10 is better at CPU performance than C9.5. I just compared same project I am working on with C10. It imported without issues in 10 and uses less resources.

Don't know what the issue was but a reinstall solved the problem...so :tu:

Maybe he can do something. I understand that retailers are in charge of checking eligibility for the cross grade.
That would be dishonest. You either qualify or you don't. Steinberg have as much right as anyone to earn a decent living, I am not about to steal from them just because I can.

Such a good deal for the Pro crossgrade. :o
Not sure I’m going to be able to pass it up. :?

Cubase Elements trial crashed while editing Halion Sonic.

It did allow me to save and generate a crash dump, but I am a little worried that Cubase Pro will not be as stable as I was hoping on Windows 10 if I go ahead and buy it. Is Cubase usually stable ?

Other than that, I am liking the workflow better than Studio One Pro, but at least Studio One is rock solid stable with zero crashes in 7 months use that I can recall.

Seriously. I didn't even see that it's so low until now. Lots of new Cubase users, for sure.

Is it best to pay a bit more and get the boxed version from a retail shop, or do most people just go for the download nowadays ?

Post

If you have a eLicenser dongle, it probably makes no difference. Not sure if the printed manuals are included... :)

Does the elicenser come with the boxed version ?

I was going to buy the boxed version and an elicenser seperately.

It says so at Thomann: https://www.thomann.de/de/steinberg_cub ... 9e9dfe7474
Including USB eLicenser
Guess you better take a look at the description at the respective shop. IF they list it.

I bought a boxed crossgrade for 9.5 Pro and it came with the dongle.
Version 9 also came with DVDs so it may have changed again with 10.

Found it on the Steinberg website.

Pointless not getting the boxed version then.

Following products include a USB-eLicenser*:

Cubase Pro
Cubase Artist
Nuendo
WaveLab
