jens wrote: Mon May 13, 2019 2:48 pm Is that where you purchased it?

Says "in stock within 1-2 weeks"

B.t.w.: did you get what I tried to explain to you?
That is where I initially ordered from. As I said, I am not going to be here when they say they'll have it. In contrast, if I wanted to buy the non-cgrade version, they have it in stock. Someone above said that the cgrade was also unavailable at Steinberg's own page. Have I missed something?

Yes, they have the non-crossgrade version in stock because they have boxes in stock and they can ship the non-crossgrade version without requiring manual authorization from Steinberg first. "1-2 weeks" is most probably their estimation on how long the whole authorization-process currently takes. Other shops have different estimations - e.g. here they say "4-7 days":

https://www.houseofsound.ch/steinberg-c ... grade.html

(and again they have 10 Pro boxes in stock)

I don't think it's possible for any shop to have it "in stock" as, as has been mentioned, the Crossgrade first has to be authorized by Steinberg. They can have the box in stock (it's exactly the same as for the non-crossgrade version, I think) and they can sell it to you right away, however they are not allowed to ship it to you, I think.
I bought a retail boxed crossgrade for Cubase 9 Pro online and was not required to provide any proof.
As the code for the software is in the sealed box Steinberg can't link an authorised purchase to a particular user so maybe they leave it to the dealer just to do a superficial check on eligibility meaning they don't pass the info back to Steinberg!
They can change their procedure at any time of course.
So apparently they have already changed it then.

They should have asked me for proof as that was stated on their website but they forgot to.
Therefore I don't know if the underlying policy has changed or whether they pass info back to Steinberg.

I guess, in reality, it's pretty difficult to prove such things. Imagine the work to check 500 people's eligibility for a crossgrade, or a Edu discount. Might already be cheaper to just give them the discount, and be done with it. ;)

I just had an email that my boxed version which I ordered this afternoon has passed eligibility (screenshot) and is being dispatched. :)

One of the more glaring omissions in Logic is mixer snapshots. It can do 'alternate versions,' which isn't quite as simple as the snapshot feature. I remember being able to do snapshots on my old Roland VS, ffs.

Logic certified producer here,

you easily can do alternate versions of mixes by either using:
-The alternate save version which creates snapshots of your projects.
-Use the more recent track alternate versions which is a VERY good way to try different versions of your automation, arrangement and more.

Please be more informed before ffs a thread, otherwise you will look ignorant

I had a good hard look at the comparison page, and given what capabilities I have with Logic, Cubase Pro was the only choice for me. IF I do it. I still have time to change my mind, and a part of me thinks I must be out of my mind to be doing this.
Well to avoid redundancy you could alway use your other DAWs for those capabilities which are lacking in Elements such as comping and score editing etc etc. And just Cubase for those features that make it unique from Logic Pro.

I just received another e-mail from Best Service:
Dear Best Service customer,

Thank you for ordering a Cubase Competitive Crossgrade at www.bestservice.com
Unfortunately Steinberg is completely overwhelmed with the (unexpected???) big success of their promotion. They have not at all been prepared for the promotion. On top of the missing stock at their European distribution center, all Crossgrade orders need to be processed and approved at Steinberg individually.
Probably it will take 1-2 weeks for us to get it approved and be able to ship to you. You will get an confirmation email from our license server as soon as available.
Sorry, I don´t have better news at the moment, but we are in constant contact with steinberg to get the earliest news.
Thanks for your patience. Don´t worry, you will get your license for sure (and you will never get it cheaper than right now), but we can't confirm a time yet.

thanks for the suggestion, though my main motivation regarding buying CPro is that, if my expensive 3.5 year-old €3,300 iMac craps the bed anytime soon, I am going to bid Apple sayonara, and move to a PC. I don't have €3,300 lying around right now, and I never buy anything on credit.

There is just no excuse for them not being prepared. This is the biggest discount they have ever offered. I hope their customer service is adequately prepared for the inevitable increase in workload with all the newbie users joining the customer base.

They can't predict the response and it is a Monday so they have to process all the orders from the weekend for starters.

Mine is coming tomorrow by UPS.

If I had gone for the download version from JRR Shop or somewhere else I would have saved maybe One British pound because the E-licenser would have cost an additional £21. So for anyone else who is after this deal it might be better going to a bricks and mortar shop and paying a little extra to save the hassle and waiting.
