Obviously, there is some nostalgia, but JV-1080 is really a classic. The factory presets can be outdated, overused or bland, but a lot of presets are still excellent, intemporal.

JV-1080 sounds generally warm and full. The only really weak point is the reverb, IMHO. So cut the reverb, use a very good one, eventually use HP and LP filters, and the JV will be at his best.

You have also a mass of user's presets, with some treasures.

Flash question. Did anyone ever released Sysex patch converter for converting existing sysex 1080 banks in to VST version?

Agreed! I have owned a JV-1080 since purchased new in the 90's, with the "Session" and "Super Sound Set" expansions.

Also have an XP-30 keyboard, fully expanded with "Orchestral 2", and "Latin", plus the included factory expansions "Session", "Orchestral", and "Techno Collection". XP-30 is similar to the JV-2080.
Windows 10 and too many plugins

I was gonna ask the same, i managed to load my D-50 presets into it.
Probably you can run the syx in your daw and bulk import?

The JV plugin has no sysex import feature, unlike the D50 plugin.

I'm looking for that GM soundbank also, should be doable with the internal presets, but pitty you cannot copy sounds from 1 to another bank?

I'm not sure if the architecture is a little different in GM mode - you can't actually access the sound parameters in GM mode, at least on the XV5080. So it may well be using a different sample set for the GM sounds.

Anyway, Roland offers the SoundCanvas plugin if you need a GM module.

Two ways:-

- Open the Bank window, and choose you patch you want to put in another bank.
- Double click on that patch to load it into the plugin.
- Select a different bank from the menu.
- Select the destination patch you want to overwrite.
- Click "Write" to save the loaded patch to that location in the new bank.

You can also copy/paste single patches between banks too - select source patch, copy (control/command C), switch banks, select destination patch to overwrite, paste (control/command V).

Ok Thx that copy paste is the best method indeed
