Cubase SX, VST Freeze Function Problem

I just learned about the freeze function in Cubase SX for the VSTI plugs. I froze and unfroze my instruments and some serious bad stuff happened. When i froze it, all the automation was still showing and i could edit it. It must have happened when I unfroze it, but when I unfroze, all the automation tracks and the VST tracks lost all the connections somehow and were unusable. Not only that but the tracks switched positions between VST tracks. For example, the volume automation for one instrument became the volume automation for a different instrument. Automation tracks jumped under other VST instruments. It seriously went berserk, when I highlighted the VST tracks, the window to the left (I forget the name) with access to the routing, inserts, sends, eq, etc, that didnt even appear. I could only access it from the mixer. On top of that the automation tracks which were all mixed around, completely lost the connection to the parameter they were affecting. Basically almost all the tracks went grey and you couldnt do anything with them. I remember this happened early in the song too when I tried it the first time. I didnt have too much going on it was easy to fix. This time, thank god i made a back up, and with an hour of cut and paste and opening and closing the original and backup, i got the track back to where it was. Does anyone know what happened and is there a way to avoid this? Ive heard something about seperate plugins that work as a freeze tool, what about these? Help is appreciated.

It's said to be fixed in SX3 and Steiny says it'll be fixed in the coming SX2 patch too!
You might aswell just bounce tracks 'till the patch arrives. Freezing in SX isn't very well implemented, I think bouncing is more flexible.

bouncing a MIDI track= recording it to an audio file.
Afterwards, deactivate the VSTi and you gain a lot of CPU.
("bouncing" originally meant recording 2 (or more) audio tracks into 1. Imagine a 4-track tape recorder...)

Oh, and don't save your project with the mixer on screen, as your 'Can Hide' settings (for audio tracks) will get messed up.

Seems much more versatile than Steiny's implementation.
I think these guys actually invented freeze.

Yeah i have FX Freeze but havent installed it yet, im skeptical about it. Will it still read all modulation and keep it intact? As far as bouncing I cant do that because im still in the process of sequencing the song. I suppose after I wrote the entire note structure and was definite about it, then i could create an audio and just tweak effects on the audio.

Freeze works fine for me in SX2. The only problem I had was caused by not having my files in their own separate folders (since the freeze function uses the same name for the files it creates, it can overwrite other files or restore the wrong files). Putting every song in it's own folder fixed this.
