Best Way to Go Out with a Bang

For four years I have worked myself to the bone making music. I began knowing nothing. I didn't know what a note was. But now I have had enough. Free music sites only want "Mr Cool EDM" music that I don't make. I will also be going to Linux later this year which will make a lot of my VSTs pretty redundant.
So I'd like to finish with one show stopper, explosive, use a gazillion synths project. I've looked for collab sites and haven't found anyone or anything that jumps out at me. If I did something myself I'd like it to do something: I'd happily make all the music for free for someone's youtube channel, movie or video game. I don't want money; I just want to finish up with my music doing something that I can remember.
So if anyone has any matches to ignite my music one last time, just tell me here or message me.
Thank you

Collaborating with someone who has no interest in art for it's own sake? Not such an interesting proposition
Good luck with your next venture

Well, what do you do?
All we know is that you don’t do “Mr. Cool EDM.”
I wouldn’t ask someone to provide music for me even if it saved time, if I didn’t have an idea of what they could do. Projects are only as good as its weakest link.
I’ve worked on animation projects, with great voice talents, great music, great sound, great story... and then shitty animation (but amazing character design and amazing concept art).
I’m not looking to ask anyone to do anything, but just mentioning to keep in mind that if you are asking someone to give you something to do, know that if its a great project then they must have put lots of work into it, so it’ll be up to you to convince them that your talents are worthy of being included alongside theirs.

It’s a fair point.

It's not actually. You have no evidence for that conclusion. Please read the OP again.

"show stopper, explosive, use a gazillion synths project"

though, you giving up because of the prevalence of EDM (which I never actually encounter in my day-to-day, it's a great big universe out there), is what set people in the negative waves here I suppose

You’re giving up after four whole years because EDM! Linux! Collabbro!
I’ve been playing music for 43 years. I’m sure I’d get rich and famous one of these days, were it not for Mr. Cool EDM.

It seemed to me that you are quitting making music because nobody wants the music you make. You've been working yourself "to the bone" making music, but you aren't getting any recognition or sales because you don't make "Mr Cool EDM". To my mind, if you enjoyed making music/art for it's own sake there would be no reason not to continue.trampofnine wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 12:14 am It's not actually. I guess I must've got it completely wrong, though. Happens often
P.S Nothing about moving to Linux means you need to quit making music. You might need to change up your tools, but it's definitely much more of a possibility these days than it once was

I just don't make EDM. I make everything else but default to synth and orchestral combos. I compose properly with sus chords and augmented chords and keys and modes and all that stuff. Why am I leaving Windows? A few hours ago a security update took 90 minutes. I have tried Linux distros for 10 years and have never had time wasted like that.

Wow you must be really smart, doing security updates WTF. Just do a clean install and turn off the updater. Leaving Windows for this is... how do I put it more politely...

There are at least two others in this thread in the same boat. What has that got to do with you quitting music?
...and tigers and bears, Oh My! Why would a 'proper' composer give up music?trampofnine wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 6:47 amI compose properly with sus chords and augmented chords and keys and modes...
I didn't ask why you are leaving Windows. I just informed you that switching to Linux still offers you plenty of tools with which to make musictrampofnine wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 6:47 amWhy am I leaving Windows? I won't say anything about "wrong goals" or "you should do music for art" or crap like that.
If it's money that drives you to make music, it's fine. It's just that you need to be ready to make EDM if it sells. Or make a composition of slapping your butt cheeks and roaring like a lion.... If it sells. You can't just tell people/customer "your idea is stupid, I won't slap my butt cheeks, I have tender butt". I can guarantee that you won't make a dime.
So start to make that EDM and do it the best way you can
