I have bought Discovery Pro 6.7 but can't use the advertised free update to 6.8.1 because his system doesn't allow me to download a free update without paying the cloud service. This is really scam. New customers beware! Don't believe the announcements here or elsewhere!

He installled a cloud service without informing his old customers and without correcting/updating all relevante informations new customers need prior buying.

Is this legal behaviour?

I bought my discoDSP products in late 2018 and I can't download them. if that is not a mistake then it's an even worse policy because it would mean you don't get updates at all after purchase without this cloud nonsense. :dog:

Has anyone message him about this and receive a reply? It baffles me that he thought this would be a good idea. You don't need to be a business major to realize this is a bad idea.

Corona is largely the work of Oskari Tammelin, the Jeskola Buzz developer. It's an expanded version of the Qsamo synth that's included with Buzz.

I like the synths, and I try to be sympathetic to people going through hard times, but George makes that kind of difficult sometimes.

I don't want that this important thread get locked or deleted by the admin/mods (Especially since he already reported it). Every insult works for him not for his customers. So please do the right thing and try to post decent. :tu:

Something like minimum update cycles every 3 or at least 6 month doesn't exist at discoDSP.
I'm not either on one or other side. But some of you have strange expectations. Where are you live? there are tons of expensive software (not in music industry) you have to pay annual fee (lets say for support and maintenance) having no uptade schedule guarateed.

btw a few weeks ago I was reading gpl related discusion here. it seems George found a way how to charge you lol ;)

Aha, it's his bussiness. Don't you like it? just ignore his offer. whats the point?

I posted a question/complaint on the DiscoDSP forum and it was IMMEDIATELY deleted.

So he is watching very carefully for what he clearly anticipated would be a bad reaction.

Are you for real? This isn't a question of ignoring his offer. This is a question of customers having already bought his product and finding out AFTER THE FACT that in order to download it they NOW have to pay a cloud subscription to get it.

That's like going into a store, buying an item and then as you're walking out the door somebody says to you that you can't take it to your car unless you pay an additional charge.

On what planet do you live on that this is even REMOTELY close to being an acceptable business practice?

The stupidity of some people boggles my mind.

Since i'm pretty sure discoDSP reading here:

Your answer was: "When someone purchases a license, our main reseller FastSpring delivers the download links. It's the best moment to download and make a backup of the files like any responsible user will do"

What has this to do with the fact that i can't download my free update when it arrive (what you promise and advert till today)? Can you explain how your customers get their free updates because atm it isn't possible.

This is the part that "flipped my bit" to "fail!" - users should be able to get at least the first year of updates free. I can't. Unless this is a discoDSP error. If not it means you get the version you get at the time of purchase and an ANY updates are $30 (I don't play that -$1 game). That would be fine if it was originally stated. It was not. So it's a bait-and-switch policy. Notice how just before this cloud requirement came to be, discoDSP seemed busy with sale after sale. Trying to get as many people to own? And then presumably ending the free updates and implementing the fart-cloud? Good luck with that. :dog: :dog: :dog:

$29 fart-cloud subscription.

I wonder if there will be a summer sale.
