Went to see Bill Nelson's "be bop deluxe and beyond" tour at Milton Keynes last night. Great to hear some of the old Be-Bop songs again - "Ships in the Night", "Maid in Heaven" and "Sister Seagull" which I last heard him play almost thirty years ago. He's still got it. Admittedly there were songs where the band could have been a bit tighter but MK was only the second date of the tour. Definitely worth the effort for any UK folk that are thinking of going, probably your last chance to hear him play those songs - Bill doesn't like playing them much these days. The tour dates are here:

It was good to see Bill's old cine footage of Be-Bop's time in the South of France recording Drastic Plastic, made all the more poignant by glimpses of Charlie Tumahai (bass) who passed away a few years ago.

Bill also played a fine solo set of his more recent work including the excellent "For Stuart" from last years "Romance of Sustain" album. I think he's doing some really great new material these days. And how does he come up with so much stuff? He had not one but three new albums on sale at the gig! :o :)

Just saw the London show last night - i honestly nearly cried when he opened with The October Man (my fave Bill Nelson track).

This guy inspired me to travel 120 miles to London on my 16th Birthday to buy an e-bow.

See this legendary guitarist while you can.
