I do qualify for the crossgrade, and it will be interesting to see if they ever ask me for proof. I assume you don't need to send Steinberg the proof directly before registering the serial?
I bought mine from Andertons. I sent the money and a screenshot of Studio One,and they released the cross-grade immediately. The postman delivered less than 24 hours after ordering.

It would be best if you gave Gear4music a phone call and see what they require.

I’m not that eager spending time with the DAW transition, right now. However, for the future, purchased 10 pro from JRR.
BTW, Because I´m not familiar with the Cubase/Steinberg procedures, is the
Download Access Code I got, all I need, or is the a separate product license code JRR will send me later?

Post

As far as i know, you use that code to activate your Cubase license in the eLicenser software.

Appreciate the information. :)

It's either that, or you can redeem that code on the MySteinberg website: https://www.steinberg.net/de/mysteinberg

Yeah, no, the Access Code does nothing in itself, it is verification so as to obtain the download via a MySteinberg account tied to an email and an activation code (also emailed to you) for the elicenser per the USB key. Access is not Activation.

One plus in this system is Zero Downtime, a lifebuoy icon in your Products, in which you can get a replacement license real quick if you lose the dongle.

I hated almost everything about Cubase Pro while I demoed it (download size, the fact that I had to change my Win7 theme to Aero, workflow, Steinberg's attitude on dealers); I didn't find any real reason to buy it as I have 3 other DAWs I actually enjoy; I even flipped a coin 9 times: it clearly said 'Don't buy it'.

About an hour ago a dealer contacted me: 'New codes just arrived. And also use this voucher...'.

Now I own 4 DAWs... :dog:

LOL. I've got a few DAWs too, and got in on the Cubase crossgrade deal. I love this DAW. Back in the 90s I owned it and didn't like it, so things change.

When I demoed it this time, I had intended on at least upgrading the LE to Elements in case I ended up not liking Cubase Pro so I could open and salvage the projects I did during my test of Pro. Now that I've bought Pro and like it, I don't think there is a chance I will be selling it, so probably don't need Elements now.

I also have a physical box of Cubase VST 5... Bought it as an upgrade from 3.7 and couldn't use it because of some incompatibility of the parallel port dongle, so I used to use a crack instead... And it was also useless for upgrading to a newer version...

Lolz. :D

I see it like this: If i ever get bored of Studio One, or it stops working for me, for whatever reason, i have a fallback. You know, they both have their flaws, and their strengths.

Snap !

I bought Pro and Elements just in case-------

No way I am going to part with Pro now :)

Studio One is currently gathering dust.

:)

I usually enjoy working with simple tools, so S1 is perfect for me. Only bought Cubase because of the very good price and because I already had the dongle.

But I'll probably get used to it if I give it more time...

Good to know, for the future, that some clients get “contacted separately by the dealer, including a voucher”. And some don’t.

I've been non stop Cubase 10 (only) mode the last week and am absolutely blown away, every morning after I wake up from 4 hours of sleep I can't wait to spend the next 20 hanging out with my new DAW. Admittedly I'm coming from 15 years background in Cakewalk, Reaper, and Reason, so I knew already I was going to be blown away, but far far more than I ever expected having willingly been 'shut in' to Reason (and hardware before that) for so long.

So if Elements workflow jives ok with you, it'll take you all of a day at most to figure out how to work with what you're used to, then open up the floodgates to possibilities you didn't even realize you had, and accomplish everything in a fraction of the time. At least that's the experience you'll have if you come from Reason. Early on with Cakewalk, then Reaper I already had workflow familiarity like Cubase, albeit with extra work on my part, but there's just SO much more Cubase offers by default and expands upon by miles, and the workflow is perfect to get stuff done quickly and satisfyingly. And if you have a selection of nice VSTs ready to go, you'll be uninstalling everything else so you can focus and get down to business.
Have you tried Vital?

I could never afford Cubase Pro before. Few weeks ago did a crossgrade from Reason 10. I am very pleased. So pleased I’ve already sold Reason.

The more I learn about it, the more I’m amazed at Cubase, and myself. I’m even completing songs as I learn. Over the years I’ve used FL, Reaper, Renoise, Studio One (3), Reason. I think I’m finally home.

[also used Project 5, the only other DAW I was productive in]
Dell desktop Win 10 /2012 MacBook Pro
Cubase Pro 10/Mixcraft 9
