Well ... you could get one of many free Soundfonts and split out the samples - see

or if you are in the UK the next edition of Computer Music has a useful set of Garritan string samples on it at 3 semitone intervals - not looped.

Steve, would you mind telling us which issue of CM those samples will be available on? Specifically the number?

"next issue" means something if you're in the UK (and know what the number of the current issue is). It's also not unusual for magazines in the UK to be on the shelf BEFORE the month mentioned on the cover.

Thanks for all the replies. I still cant get anything decent on the net. It all seems to be sample CDs $$£££ :(.
